Tomás Roncero wasn't been pleased at all with what happened in the match between Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid. The game, part of the 17th round of LaLiga, ended in a 3-3 draw... but there was a key decision that could've tipped the balance. Late in the second half, a clear penalty on Vinícius Júnior wasn't called, and the VAR didn't even intervene.
"Penalty on Vinícius Júnior that went to limbo. And where was the VAR?" asked Tomás Roncero on his X account. The answer to this question is obvious: they didn't call it because they didn't want to. The play is clear and should've been penalized with a penalty kick and a yellow card for the opponent.
Vinícius Júnior was entering the area when he was contacted by the leg of a Rayo Vallecano player. Seeing that nothing was being called, he got up very angry, looking for explanations. But this reaction did him little good: neither the referee called it, nor did the VAR give any indication.
Tomás Roncero Points out Real Madrid's Problem after Drawing against Rayo
Roncero didn't stop there, clearly pointing out where the problem lies for this Real Madrid. During the match against Rayo Vallecano, the popular journalist from El Chiringuito emphasized the current level of the defensive line.
"Another unbelievable hole in defense. Two free headers for Rayo. Bad," noted Tomás Roncero. He's not wrong, as the frustration in Madrid is immense, and it's considered that changes are needed in the center of the defense for the next season.
Real Madrid Draws, LaLiga Opens up
This 3-3 draw breaks Real Madrid's good momentum in the league competition, opening up the possibility for FC Barcelona to extend their lead to 4 points at the top. The poor result against Rayo Vallecano has been a harsh wake-up call for Carlo Ancelotti's team.
Tomás Roncero ended up very angry, just like all Real Madrid fans. They couldn't afford to fail in Vallecas, and they did it in the worst possible way. There are two matches left to close 2025: the Intercontinental and one more LaLiga round.
