Tomás Roncero Says what Many Think and Confronts Florentino: ‘It’s Absurd’

Roncero offers his analysis on the present and the possible key decisions for Real Madrid's future

Real Madrid drew 1-1 against Al-Hilal in its last match, and, as expected, the reactions didn't take long to appear. Tomás Roncero, deputy director of Diario AS, didn't hesitate to express his opinion on Carrusel Deportivo of Cadena SER. With his direct style and no-nonsense approach, he analyzed not only the match but also key decisions that, according to him, are incomprehensible.

Luka Modric: "It's absurd"

One of the most discussed topics was Luka Modric's presence in the match. Although the Croatian wasn't on the field for the entire game, Roncero didn't hide his disagreement with the decision for Modric to leave the club.

"He shouldn't have left, it's absurd," Roncero stated, incredulous at the midfielder's departure, who still has much to offer. Despite his words, the reality is that Modric's departure is imminent, and these could be his last matches wearing the white jersey.

Gonzalo García: The bet for the future

Another name that came up in the conversation was Gonzalo García, who scored the equalizing goal for Madrid. Tomás Roncero highlighted the performance of the young academy player, who has shown great potential.

"Gonzalo's been here since day one, he's been with Xabi for 10 days. He must have seen his movements, his attitude as a '9', how he presses well... Why not?" the journalist said.

According to Roncero, Gonzalo is earning a place in the first team. Roncero suggested: "I'd loan Endrick to a first division club for a year and keep Gonzalo as Mbappé's backup." With this statement, Roncero made clear his trust in the academy player and his abilities.

Rodrygo and Vinicius: The key to the future?

The analysis didn't stop there. Tomás Roncero also shared his thoughts on the performance of Rodrygo and Vinicius, two of the most promising players at Real Madrid. Both haven't managed to shine with the desired intensity in recent months, but the journalist still believes in their potential.

"I want to think Rodrygo will reset, like Vinicius, with the new coach. I'd like to think he'll stay," he commented. In addition, Roncero highlighted that the interest in Rodrygo is evident, with "very powerful offers from the Premier League," which shows the Brazilian's quality.

However, he also emphasized that, just like Vinicius, his performance could improve under the guidance of a new coach.
