Real Madrid suffered more than expected to defeat Celta at Santiago Bernabéu. They went from having the match completely under control with a 3-0 lead to suffering until the last moment with a 3-2. Tomás Roncero ended up visibly angry, pointing directly at the match referee, Gil Manzano, for not calling two penalties: one on Fede Valverde, and another for Marcos Alonso's handball.
Tomás Roncero Demands Two Penalties in Real Madrid-Celta
In a message posted on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, Tomás Roncero was blunt. "Two penalties, one on Fede Valverde and another by Marcos Alonso, to the void. This season is shocking. Where the heck was the VAR," indicated the journalist from El Chiringuito.
The first of the two penalties demanded by Tomás Roncero occurred after the 70th minute, when the match was at 3-1. Yoel Lago, a Celta footballer, clearly brought down Valverde in his area... but Gil Manzano didn't call it initially, nor did the VAR review it.
From the possible 4-1 with that penalty, it went to the 3-2 that Celta would later score. Meanwhile, with that score on the board, another uncalled penalty occurred, this time by Marcos Alonso. The former FC Barcelona player clearly palmed the ball with his hand when Mbappé had it, in an action that should have been called as a penalty.
Real Madrid Suffered More Than Expected, But Remain Alive
Although Ancelotti's team seemed to have the match under control, the truth is they ended up suffering until the last moment. Courtois had to appear several times to prevent Celta from equalizing.

But, in the end, the important thing is that, for another matchday, LaLiga remains undecided. The gap is only four points from the lead, and next week many things can happen. Real Madrid visits Montjuïc to face FC Barcelona, and depending on what happens, LaLiga could be closed or more open than ever.
There are four matches left, one of them a Clásico, and Real Madrid has its sights set on winning LaLiga. As long as they are allowed, as Tomás Roncero has pointed out on several occasions...
