Tomas Roncero Asks Ancelotti to Make Changes to Lineup for Liverpool-Real Madrid

Tomás Roncero believes that some changes are needed in the lineup that Ancelotti presented against Leganés.

Tomás Roncero is the Deputy Director of AS, a commentator for SER and a regular on El Chiringuito. He's asked Carlo Ancelotti to make changes ahead of the Liverpool-Real Madrid Champions League game this Wednesday.

The Italian coach introduced many tactical variations in Real Madrid's last La Liga match at Leganés. Ancelotti was looking to find the right key and he seems to have found it at Butarque.

Changes to the Anfield Lineup

But Wednesday is a different story: a different rival and a different competition. Roncero is not sure that a lineup similar to that against Leganés can make Real Madrid emerge victorious at Anfield.

After all, Liverpool is on a hot streak. They prove it by leading the Premier League table with an 8-point advantage over Manchester City.

If Liverpool was already a formidable rival, it seems that it is so even more now. Tomás Roncero asks Ancelotti in AS for changes to the Real Madrid lineup.

The recent precedents, with defeats against Lille and Milan, leave no further margin of error for Real Madrid. Win or win at Anfield.

Tomás Roncero offers his view on the lineup in the newspaper AS:

"I would keep Valverde and Asencio. I would put Modric back in Ceballos's place. The rest, I would keep it, betting on Güler and Modric together."

Barça can Already Smell Real Madrid's Breath

He adds: "And if there's lack of toughness, Camavinga and Modric himself, who always sacrifices himself and applies pressure."

Roncero recalls how things have changed in just a few weeks, both in La Liga and the Champions League. He warns that Hansi Flick's team "already sees Real Madrid in the rearview mirror."

"I think Madrid has a chance to redeem itself at Anfield. Barça is looking back with concern. There's the league and the Champions League," said Roncero.

For the popular journalist, the Anfield clash should be good to make a statement that will put Real Madrid in its rightful place, both in Spain and in Europe.
