This is Laporta’s Backup Plan to Return to Camp Nou… or to Montjuïc

Laporta considers returning to Montjuïc due to the impossibility of meeting the deadlines at Camp Nou

The return to Camp Nou remains a mystery. The construction work at Camp Nou is progressing, yes, but the deadlines aren't being met as had been promised. With the silence from those responsible for the project, alarms have already gone off at the club.

Many people remind Laporta of his mistakes in predicting dates. There's also his announcement that the company Limak would pay one million euros for each day of delay in completing the work.

No one in the board of directors wants to publicly admit a delay. However, they're already taking steps to avoid what would be an institutional embarrassment. Joan Laporta, according to MB, already has an alternative ready.

The "plan B" that wasn't wanted

Although the possibility of returning to Montjuïc in the 2025-26 season was ruled out at the time, now the option is back on the table. Estadi Olímpic could once again host Barça's matches. That's if the work at Camp Nou isn't finished on time.

According to Mundo Deportivo, talks are already underway with Barcelona City Council to explore that possibility. Although the absolute priority is still to return to Spotify Camp Nou, the club doesn't want to be caught off guard.

The plan wouldn't just involve another season at Montjuïc, but also renegotiating certain logistical and commercial agreements. UEFA doesn't allow a change of venue until January, which would mean playing the first phase at Montjuïc.

For now, it's been decided that the Gamper will be played at Johan Cruyff in front of 7,000 spectators. That's despite Laporta announcing to the world in a video that it would be the first match at Camp Nou.

Víctor Font explodes: "It's ridiculous"

The criticism of the project's management hasn't taken long to appear. The former presidential candidate, Víctor Font, has been one of the harshest. He hasn't hesitated to call the situation "institutional ridicule."

"They promised we'd return to Camp Nou in November, now not even that. It's a lack of respect for the members and fans," Font said. He also lamented the lack of transparency and the propagandistic use of the project by the current board.
