They announce the name of the center-back who will replace Rüdiger: Dean Huijsen knows him well

Antonio Rüdiger's serious injury has changed all plans at Real Madrid

Real Madrid has suffered a major blow to its defensive planning. Antonio Rüdiger will be sidelined for about three months after injuring the rectus femoris in his left leg during the latest training session. The news comes at the worst possible time for Xabi Alonso, who is losing one of its most reliable and experienced center-backs.

Rüdiger, who was serving as the third center-back behind Dean Huijsen and Militao, will miss a large number of matches, leaving the defense in a delicate situation. Now, Real Madrid is determined to find internal solutions to cover his absence without affecting the team's outstanding performance

Raúl Asencio, the unexpected successor

The player who has gained the most momentum after Rüdiger's injury is Raúl Asencio. The young center-back, who had gone almost unnoticed until now, will be the main beneficiary of this situation. Asencio will take on the role of third center-back that was reserved for the German, remaining in the squad with a much greater role.

Raúl Asencio already has experience partnering with Dean Huijsen, with whom he shared minutes in the Spanish national team. In addition, both footballers played together in the latest FIFA Club World Cup, where they left a good impression and showed a chemistry that could now be very valuable for Real Madrid.

From almost leaving for Besiktas to becoming indispensable

Just a few days ago, Raúl Asencio had an offer on the table to join Besiktas. The Turkish club saw him as a market opportunity, but Rüdiger's unexpected injury has radically changed the scenario. The center-back has definitively rejected the proposal and has committed to staying at Bernabéu to take on a more important role in the squad.

For Xabi Alonso, this decision is excellent news. Raúl Asencio's continuity gives the coach more flexibility to rotate and cover the absence of such an important player as Rüdiger

The challenge of establishing himself at Real Madrid

The opportunity now opening up for Asencio is enormous. From being a secondary player, he will now have the chance to play significant minutes in LaLiga and the Champions League. Real Madrid trusts his development and, although the pressure will be at its highest, the situation could also be the definitive springboard for him to finally establish himself at the top level.

The 22-year-old defender  will have to prove his maturity and reliability in a scenario that allows no mistakes. The fans will be watching his performance very closely, especially in key matches where Rüdiger's absence could be felt.
