Real Madrid is once again the protagonist of a media attack coming from France. This time, the newspaper L'Équipe has harshly criticized the white club at a key moment of the season.
"Real Madrid Is a Spoiled Child"
In an incendiary article, L'Équipe describes Real Madrid as "a spoiled, intolerant, and frustrated child" after their setbacks in La Liga, Copa, and Champions League. A criticism that has not been well received within the white club, which considers these words an unjustified attack with ulterior motives.
From Madrid, they do not understand the French media's aggression. Carlo Ancelotti's team still has chances in La Liga and the Club World Cup.
The article, signed by Antoine Simonneau, originates from Real Madrid's demand to change the referees for the Copa final. The pre-final press conference of both suggested animosity against Real Madrid.
"As If It Were Above Any Rule"
L'Équipe has accused the white club of acting "as if it were above any rule" and of betraying the values of respect and sportsmanship it has always proclaimed.
L'Équipe refers to the expulsions of Lucas Vázquez, Bellingham, and Rüdiger as "the culmination of resentment, frustration, and impotence that have taken over Madrid this season."
Simonneau sees not only a sports crisis in Real Madrid but also serious institutional problems. "It affects a very relevant part such as ethics." And he calls for Florentino to conduct a deep self-criticism to avoid "straying from the greatness that has always characterized it."
This type of criticism, far from destabilizing the team, could serve as extra motivation in the final stretch of the season. In the white locker room, they are aware that every time Real Madrid approaches glory, attacks multiply from outside. And this time, it has been no different.
Sources close to the club assure that there is discomfort with the treatment received by the French media, where issues like Kylian Mbappé's arrival at Bernabéu still sting. It is not ruled out that the club will respond officially if the criticism continues.
