Taking Aim at Vinícius: 'He's Not Good for the Sport, He's Rude and Grumpy...'

Mateu Lahoz and José María García unleash heavy artillery against Vinícius

In the last few hours, a fierce campaign against Vinícius has erupted. The reason is the gesture he made to the Rayo Vallecano fans last Saturday.

Former referee and Movistar + analyst Antonio Mateu Lahoz spoke on the program El Día Después on Movistar +.  "Vinícius needs to take a look at himself. This isn't good for the sport"

Journalist José María García has been even more forceful. This is an excerpt from what he declared to the EFE agency:

"He's Rude, He Should Look at Rodrygo"

-"He's rude, he's a complainer, he's grumpy. If he didn't play for the white club, he wouldn't finish a soccer game. It's bad for him and every day he harms himself more."

-"It's something outrageous and a club as big as Real Madrid should have solved it earlier. It's a lack of foresight."

-"Not everyone is the same, the family environment matters a lot. We have, for example, a guy who is a good player like Rodrygo: correct, polite, he keeps his cool."

-"Against Rayo, he should've been expelled, but no one, I don't know why, puts a stop to this excess."

-"Behavior matters a lot and he only has one enemy: Vinícius. And collaborator in this bad behavior: the president."

"Someone Needs to be Put Next to Him to Educate Him"

-"Saying that Spain is a racist country is an absolute absurdity that only makes sense to an unequipped mind."

-"I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the Ballon d'Or. He might be the best or one of the best, but Madrid has handled it terribly."

-"The role of depriving the player considered the best in the world of attending the event. Prohibiting a player who is going to receive the top scorer award ex aequo with another teammate is outrageous. I don't understand how Madrid could stoop to that."

-"Someone needs to be put next to him, to control him, to educate him. He's rude, he's a complainer, he's grumpy, he doesn't show the due respect to his teammates, let alone to his opponents."

-"Who educated him? Who taught him? He should look at a teammate who arrived like him: Rodrygo. Besides being a great player, he's an almost model man."

Guti Defends Vinícius

Within what seems to be an organized smear campaign against Vinícius, there are also voices defending him. This is the case of Guti on El Chiringuito.

"I also had some gestures that I let slip. Sometimes you're angry, you've lost, or it hasn't been your day, and you don't feel like someone is insulting you from the stands. That's how it is."

-"I understand Vinícius, obviously. His reaction is normal"

"It's a 3-3, he came out, and things didn't go well for him. Then there was the clash with the referee, the penalty that wasn't called. And then, if you have to endure some out-of-place comment from someone, in the end, you snap."
