Real Madrid has not taken Vinícius Junior's comments lightly.
His latest statements were made at the Brazilian Football Confederation official TV channel. The top executives of the club consider that dragging out the issue of racism without any reason benefits no one. Not even him.
At Real Madrid they regret that Vinícius loses control when he forgets about club discipline. He takes advantage of it to make statements that are not always negligible. They think that it is the result of a perfectly planned campaign by the group of professionals who take care of his image.
It turns out that what suits Vinícius best is not necessarily what suits the club best. It's not in the interest of the club to stir up the environment. This is the kind of statements that make Vinícius and the entire white team be poorly received in all fields in reply to their statements.
Vinícius, currently finishing filming a series about his life for Netflix, seems more interested in following the script that has been given to him than thinking about his own interests. Obviously, it is understood that these latest statements about racism will have their place in the series.
What Did Vinícius Say?
This is what Vinícius said on the official television channel of the Brazilian Football Confederation.
-Racism convictions in Spain: "In the last three months we have already managed to put three or four people in prison and make them pay for the crime they committed.
"We can reduce this as quickly as possible. Because even a person who is racist will be afraid to say it when there are cameras and this will decrease and affect other people as well."
-Changes in Spain: "We are on the right path. I play in Spain, where I suffered a lot and I still suffer sometimes, but of course less and less so with the help of all the clubs and all the people who are doing everything possible to fight racism."
-The fight against racism: "I know my importance, I know how important I am, but I always say that it's a fight for everyone, because I can't fight against everything that all black people are suffering alone. But I know my size, I know the strength I have, my word, and that I can speak for all those people who are afraid. I believe in speaking for those people. So I am very happy to be able to help and remain firm and strong in the fight together with all the players and all the people who were able to help us."
- Measures against racism: "I always think that any help is welcome. Black people have suffered for a long time and the time must come for all this to end. That's why FIFA, which is a very strong name together with the BFC, together with all the players—we have this strength to fight. So let us continue together, firm and strong so that here and in the very near future, the children who come to our future will have a better life."
