Real Madrid leads the market ranking: these have been the 10 most expensive signings

The Premier League distances itself from the rest of the leagues with an enormous investment in signings. Its fair play is different

Real Madrid and LaLiga have experienced an atypical summer transfer window. The white club leads investments in signings, and the Spanish competition suffers as Premier League pulls away with tax advantages and more flexible Financial Fair Play rules.

Spending data by league

The figures are clear: Premier League has broken a historic record with more than £3 billion (almost €3.5 billion) spent this summer, according to Deloitte.

This represents half of the total outlay among the five major leagues, according to Deloitte. In Spain, LaLiga is far behind, with just €708 million, well behind England.

Premier League: €3.5 billion

LaLiga: €708 million.

Serie A Italy: €920 million.

Ligue 1 France: around €782 million

Bundesliga Germany: €662 million.

Within LaLiga, Real Madrid is ahead of all the others. It has invested €181 million this summer, leading the financial effort, closely followed by Atlético de Madrid, with €158 million. Barça is already far behind in third place.

Real Madrid has spent €181 million on Mastantuono (€63 million), Huijsen (€58 million), Carreras (€50 million), and Trent (€10 million).

The second position in the Spanish ranking goes to Atlético de Madrid, which has spent €147 million plus the €35 million purchase option for Nico González.

This is how it has distributed the spending: Baena (€42 million), Hancko (€26 million), Cardoso (€29 million), Raspadori (€22 million), Almada (€21 million), Ruggeri (€18 million), Pubil (€16 million), Musso (€3 million), Lenglet (€0), and Nico González (purchase option of €35 million).

FC Barcelona has added Joan García (€25 million), Bardghji (€2 million), and Rashford (on loan from Manchester United).

LaLiga in danger

The reality is clear: while Premier League expands its financial muscle, LaLiga is becoming poorer. Economic restrictions and strict Fair Play control are limiting investment capacity.

The stars are concentrating in Premier League while the rest of the leagues are losing appeal and competitiveness.
