Real Madrid Defeats Rayo Vayecano and Vinícius Opens up to Ancelotti: ‘It was…’

The match between Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano has been more contested than expected: the Champions League, to blame.

Real Madrid achieved a valuable 2-1 victory in their reception of Rayo Vallecano, in the match corresponding to the 27th round of LaLiga. It was really close until the last moment, being solved from the defensive side, trying to save the three valuable points at the Santiago Bernabéu. After the latest results, Ancelotti's team has climbed to a shared lead with Barcelona, waiting to play their postponed match against Osasuna.

Everything could have been more comfortable for Madrid from the start, when Hernández Maeso didn't want to call a clear penalty on Vinícius Júnior. It all happened in the first minute, when Lejeune clearly stepped on him inside the area.

Initially, the referee didn't call anything. Meanwhile, the VAR led by Quintero González washed their hands of it. This type of action is being called this season, but this one went "unnoticed."

It didn't even matter in the television broadcast, gaining importance due to the "complaints" of Real Madrid's fans on social media. Fortunately for Ancelotti's team, it didn't matter on the scoreboard: with Vinícius Júnior himself and previously Mbappé scoring the two goals at the Bernabéu. Before the match went to halftime, Rayo Vallecano scored their only goal from outside the area.

Vinícius Júnior confesses to Ancelotti

"It was a penalty by Lejeune", could be heard in Santiago Bernabéu locker rooms. And it's no wonder, as Rayo Vallecano's center-back clearly stepped on Vinícius Júnior inside his area.

Despite having secured the three points, Ancelotti ended up very angry with the refereeing performance. He believes that, once again, Real Madrid was harmed, although this time it wasn't reflected on the scoreboard. Many actions were forgiven to Rayo Vallecano that were called against his team...

In any case, the important thing for Real Madrid was to secure the three points in a match that always presents challenges, like this one. The weekend was taken advantage of, and now all eyes are on the Champions League, with a visit to the Metropolitano next Wednesday. Atlético awaits, with the round of 16 of the competition to be decided, with an open result that, for now, benefits Ancelotti's team.
