Neither Álvaro Carreras nor Miguel: Xabi Alonso Demands Another ex-Real Madrid Player

On the table, there is a more attractive option that convinces Xabi Alonso to strengthen Real Madrid

Real Madrid is still planning the squad for next season because they haven't found the ideal left-back for Xabi Alonso. Many names have been mentioned in recent weeks, most of them with a past at Real Madrid, like Álvaro Carreras or Miguel Gutiérrez. For one reason or another, these options don't fully convince the future Madrid coach, who has put a market opportunity on the table that pleases him much more.

Theo Hernández: A Low-Cost Return

AS has revealed that Theo Hernández's name is gaining strength to reinforce Real Madrid this coming summer. He meets many of the requirements set in the search for a full-back: he has experience (27 years old), favorable contractual conditions (contract ends in 2026), and his adaptation would be easy.

Theo Hernández intends to leave Milan this coming summer and he would welcome his return to Bernabéu. He was part of Real Madrid's squad at a very young age, in the 2017-18 season, when Zidane started. The problem was that he was 19 years old and was seen as very green... opting for his sale a year after spending a season on loan at Real Sociedad.

In 2019, Theo Hernández left for a little over €20 million and would now be available for this same price. His high value has plummeted because he hasn't renewed his contract yet and is ready to leave Italy... trying to play in another country.

Xabi Alonso Doesn't Count on Real Madrid's Full-Backs

What Xabi Alonso is clear about is that changes are needed in Madrid's defense. For next season, he has requested reinforcements in all positions of the backline. The first will arrive on the right flank, with Arnold already signed at zero cost. He hopes for a top-level left-back, with Theo Hernández being the first on his list of options.

Meanwhile, in the center of the defense, he also expects some reinforcement, although Florentino seems reluctant because he doesn't see attractive low-cost options.

Theo Hernández, for about €20 million, would be delighted to return to Real Madrid. It's an option that is liked and is gaining strength for the summer, with Xabi Alonso as his main supporter.
