Neither Alphonso Davies nor Miguel Gutiérrez: Carlo Ancelotti Asks Him to return

Real Madrid needs to strengthen its defense with the addition of a renowned left-back

Real Madrid is in a delicate situation regarding its full-backs. Despite Florentino Pérez's conservative policy, injuries and team movements open the door to signings. Among the names that have emerged, one stands out due to his relationship with the club: Theo Hernández, who could return to Santiago Bernabéu.

The Defense, Ancelotti's Priority

Coach Carlo Ancelotti is aware of the difficulties his team is facing in defense. Injuries to key players, especially the full-backs, have highlighted the urgent need to strengthen this area. In particular, the left-back position has been a weak point.

Ferland Mendy, the starter in that position, has had recurring physical problems, while Fran García hasn't managed to establish himself as a reliable option. In some matches, even Eduardo Camavinga has had to cover the left flank, which further underscores the lack of options.

On the right-back side, Dani Carvajal's serious injury has left the team without a reliable player. This has led Real Madrid to focus on Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool's full-back whose contract ends in June 2025 and could arrive for free.

The Return of Theo Hernández: an Unexpected Signing

Among the options the club is considering, Theo Hernández is one of the most prominent. Although names like Alphonso Davies were initially speculated, the Frenchman of Spanish origin has become a real target.

His situation at AC Milan is uncertain: the player isn't comfortable at the Italian club, and his renewal isn't progressing as expected. Milan has offered him five million euros per season, but Theo isn't convinced and might be looking for new horizons.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Madrid has explored the possibility of Theo Hernández's return to Bernabéu. The left-back, who joined Milan in 2019 for 23 million, played at Real Madrid in the 2017-2018 season, although his stint was brief. Now, at 26 years old, he might be ready to take a step back to his first club in La Liga.

The Competition for Theo's Signing

However, the path to repatriate Theo Hernández won't be easy. Besides negotiations with Milan, the player has attracted interest from other major clubs.

One of the most serious competitors is Bayern Munich, which has shown its willingness to renew his contract. Additionally, Manchester United has also expressed interest in signing the defender, increasing the competition for his signature.
