Masterful. Pedrerol brings Jota Jordi back down to earth: 'When the Bernabéu opened...'

Pedrerol denounces the condition of Camp Nou's entrances and the danger Barça fans face

It happened last night on El Chiringuito. Jota Jordi was cheering for Joan Laporta for what he's doing at Camp Nou. Josep Pedrerol listened carefully until he felt compelled to intervene.

Jota Jordi started talking about complaints and irregularities committed at Bernabéu. Josep Pedrerol wouldn't let that slide, taking the opportunity to describe the harsh reality of Camp Nou today: a lot of danger.

Jota Jordi explained: "Laporta has dared to do what no one else has done. This is wonderful, a project for the next 150 years."

"This has been done by a board. Not the previous one. This one."

"How can we criticize someone who's backing with his own money, who's built the team he's built and who's brought in the coach he's brought in?"

"Let's not give them ammunition. We'll open when we can and when we have a permit."

"Not like them, who do things without a permit. We'll do it right."

"Barça's fans are in danger at Camp Nou"

That's when Pedrerol intervened after being mentioned. Do they do things without a permit? His response was forceful.

"I've heard something about permits... When the new Bernabéu opens, no spectator is in danger. Barcelona's city council has delayed the opening because Barça's fans are in danger."

"Nothing to do with it. The city council has said: not this month, not in two months, and not in three months either."

60,000 no, now 27,000 (60,000), and then 40,000 (40,000). Everything had to be changed."

"The technicians have said that anything could fall on someone's head. Barça said: "No, we think it's fine." No, no..."

"The city council has done everything possible, has delayed Montjuïc, because Barça wants to return. They're trying to make sure the concert doesn't happen so Barça can play..."

"The city council is doing more than it should, but the city council is looking out for the safety of the people who go to Camp Nou."

"Access to Camp Nou is terrible"

"If something happens, the city council will be to blame, because it'll have granted the permit."

"Right now, the access is terrible, and the field is there so we can see how nice it looks here. The field is lit up, but the access is terrible."

"At Bernabéu, they were smart enough to do it when there were no spectators during the pandemic."

"At Bernabéu, nothing has been done without a permit."

"The neighbors have told Laporta: "If you make noise, we'll report you"

Then Jota Jordi adds: "Why did you stop the concerts? Why did you stop the parking construction? Because there was no permit."

"The neighbors of Les Corts have told Laporta: Careful. If you make noise here, we'll report you," Pedrerol replies. "No concerts, not in winter or in summer."

"What happened at Bernabéu has made people in other cities say: "Careful." I've been told that at Barcelona's city council they've said no concerts, not even in summer."
