There's a little more than a week left before the transfer market closes and, at least regarding signings, Real Madrid already considers its work done. However, many teams in Europe, but especially in Spain, still have work to do. One of them is Girona, which has lost a lot of potential this summer and urgently needs to strengthen.
The relationship between Real Madrid and Girona is good, as shown by the agreements reached in the past. One of them is precisely the deal for Miguel Gutiérrez, who in 2022 left La Fábrica to head to Montilivi for €5 million. In this sale, Florentino kept 50% of a future sale, which has now brought many millions to Santiago Bernabéu.
Three years later, Girona has sold Miguel for €18+2 million and half has gone to Real Madrid. In addition, it could still further increase its accounts after a recent call from the offices of the Catalan team.

Top signing for Girona
After this departure, the Catalans have gone straight to work to strengthen their defensive line. Their next target is also at Real Madrid. "Defensa Central" has revealed that Girona has directly asked the white team about the loan or possible signing of Fran García.
Florentino Pérez's response has been clear, indicating that Fran García won't leave this summer because Xabi Alonso is counting on him. If he were to leave, it would only be for an offer of €30 million or more, never for less.
This high price seems impossible for Girona to pay, which has several targets in its sights. "Madrid-Barcelona" has learned that another full-back liked in Montilivi is Àlex Moreno, former Betis player who is currently at Aston Villa.

Fran García has the advantage
Everything has changed for the Madrid defender since Xabi Alonso arrived on the bench. He considers him a defender he wants to include in his project. While it's true that a lesser role awaits him this season, he believes he can play an important part as a substitute for Álvaro Carreras in certain matches.
Both Fran García and Carreras have different profiles. While the former is more offensive, the newcomer to Real Madrid is more defense-oriented. They are complementary and both fit into the project, leaving Ferland Mendy aside.
