Juanma Castaño Announces How Much Money Real Madrid Has to Pay for Xabi Alonso

The COPE host surprises and reveals a much lower price than what they talk about from Germany

Real Madrid has decided to change coaches for the next season, bidding farewell to Ancelotti after this period in charge. In recent weeks, many names have been mentioned, but the chosen one is none other than Xabi Alonso, the coach of Leverkusen, who is willing to accept the position. From Germany, a price has been revealed to pay for his release, but in recent hours Juanma Castaño has contradicted them.

Xabi Alonso Can Go to Real Madrid for 8 Million

Xabi Alonso has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2026, which means a payment will be required for his release. In this regard,  Juanma Castaño has been clear: this release will cost Real Madrid 8 million euros. It is agreed in his contract, and there will be no negotiation, as this is the price to free him and allow him to sit on the bench at Santiago Bernabéu.

Recently, in Germany, other figures have been given, much higher than what Juanma Castaño has announced. If the COPE presenter talks about 8 million,  in the Teutonic country, they raise the figure to 16 million euros, double.

Asked about the possible departure of Xabi Alonso, Fernando Carro, CEO of Leverkusen, pointed out: "If in the end there were interest from another club and he was interested, we have a relationship that would need to be discussed. It is not our desire, but we are clear that the decision has to be made in three or four weeks, we can't wait until the end of the season".

Xabi Alonso Will End 'The Fantastic Four'

Xabi Alonso sees Real Madrid as unbalanced by fielding Vinícius, Mbappé, Rodrygo, and Bellingham at the same time. His goal is to gain strength as a team by reinforcing the midfield.

Despite his talent and contribution to the team, with 10 goals and 6 assists in 26 matches, Rodrygo could be the major sacrifice in the new Madrid era.

The Madrid board, aware of the situation, is already considering offers for the forward, whose market value remains high. Premier League teams have shown interest, and a sale could generate significant income to strengthen other areas of the team.

The idea is for both Mbappé and Bellingham to continue, while Vinícius is about to renew his contract until 2029. This leaves Rodrygo in a bad position, who is likely to leave with Xabi Alonso's arrival. A Xabi Alonso who, as Juanma Castaño has discovered, will cost Real Madrid 8 million euros.
