Guti surprised last night on the show El Chiringuito, which is directed and hosted by Josep Pedrerol. It's not easy to hear him speak well of Barça, but last night he made an exception.
In his conclusions about the Super Cup and the humiliating 5-2 defeat suffered by Real Madrid, he said:
"Real Madrid Has to Run More, but Run Well"
"Three days have passed, it's not the end of the season and there's still La Liga and the Champions League, which are the most important. In the end, everything passes, although it's true it was a big, hard blow."
-"You have to do self-criticism. The first game was a warning and this is the confirmation that you're not doing things right to win titles. Not only has it been Barça, Madrid has faced other big teams this year that it hasn't been able to beat."
"They don't have a clear idea, neither of the scheme, nor of how to attack, nor of how to defend. In most games, you're going to win them and you do. But in the important games, where titles are won, you have to be clear about what you want to do. If you're not clear, it's very difficult."
"You have to run more and run well"
"We all trust Ancelotti. I don't think he's entirely to blame. This isn't just about the coach, it's also about the staff, players, and those who make the teams."
After the self-criticism about Real Madrid, Guti had no problem showing his admiration for Lamine Yamal and his play.
"This is the One Who's Going to Define an Era"
"Lamine has shown glimpses of what he's going to be able to prove from now until he retires."
"We talk about Messi and it looks like he's heading that way. I don't know if he'll match him, but he'll define an era like Messi did.
"From Barça, you remember Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Busquets, yes. But the one you always talk about is Messi. This is going to be somewhat similar.
You'll remember Cubsarsí and three or four from the current Barça, but this is going to be the one who's going to define an era."
It's not common to hear praise of aspect of FC Barcelona in Guti's analyses. However, he has no problem doing so with Lamine Yamal, whom he sees having an extraordinary future, even if he isn't a Real Madrid player. Who knows, in the future things might change.
