Goodbye Madrid, Xabi Alonso can't avoid it: Manchester City will pay €80M in January

Xabi Alonso can't offer him the continuity he so strongly desires, and in Manchester, they're already rubbing their hands together

Manchester City is ready to shake up the transfer market with a multi-million euro proposal. According to "Fichajes.net", the English club is preparing an €80 million ($80 million) offer to sign a key player from Real Madrid. This deal could be finalized in January 2026 and, without a doubt, it could mark a turning point in the Merengue project.

Everything will depend on this footballer's sporting situation under Xabi Alonso's management, who still doesn't guarantee him the continuity or the role he desires in the team.

Xabi Alonso doesn't guarantee him playing time

The arrival of Xabi Alonso on Santiago Bernabéu bench has brought a renewal in the play style and the hierarchy in the locker room. The Basque coach wants to build a competitive team and, to do so, is relying on young players with a lot of potential. However, not everyone has a spot as an undisputed starter, which works against them.

The footballer targeted by Manchester City is seeking prominence. He wants to feel important, with quality minutes and big matches on his résumé. However, the competition in the white attack is fierce and it's extremely difficult for him.

An attack with excess talent

Real Madrid has Franco Mastantuono on the right, one of the greatest gems in world soccer, whom Xabi Alonso considers untouchable. On the left, Vinícius Júnior is the offensive leader and one of the best players on the planet.

This context  leaves little room for maneuver for the player wanted by Manchester City, who sees his opportunities decrease with each matchday.

Manchester City's main target

In England, they're clear: he's ideal for Pep Guardiola's system. His speed, dribbling, and ability to link up fit perfectly with the offensive style in which he was Premier League champion

City knows it won't be easy to convince Real Madrid, but they trust the player's contractual and sporting situation could open the door for an exit

Rodrygo Goes, Guardiola's main target

Manchester City's main target is Rodrygo Goes. At 24, the Brazilian is at a decisive moment in his career. He either manages to establish himself at Madrid or he'll look for a project where he can be the star.

Nothing will be given away at Chamartín.  The minimum transfer fee for Rodrygo Goes is €80 million ($80 million)... and the final decision will depend both on the player and on the minutes Xabi Alonso is willing to give him.

Rodrygo Goes has the contract and the quality to succeed, but his future is hanging in the air. Manchester City is lurking with an offer that could change everything
