Florentino Pérez is Tired — Changes in Women’s Team: Coach and Leaders to be Replaced

Olga Carmona and Athenea del Castillo, under scrutiny. They define the personality of a Real Madrid that isn't working.

Florentino Pérez is very upset with Real Madrid's women's soccer team. It has been five years since the announced "New Dimension" was featured on the front page of the Marca newspaper.

Zero Titles and 16 Defeats in 16 Clásicos. Where is the New Dimension?

In five years, Real Madrid has only managed to become a mere spectator of Barça's successes in Spain and Europe. 16 clásicos played and 16 clásicos lost against Barcelona. Zero titles in these five years.

This is not what was promised to Florentino Pérez when he was encouraged to form a women's soccer team.

Florentino doesn't like what he sees. He shows it by skipping watching his team play a final that he already considered lost. Because Florentino has learned about women's soccer the hard way.

He doesn't like his coach's narrative at all, who has been on the edge for years. Alberto Toril can't improve his team and only superficially brings it closer to Barça. On the field, where it matters, he says nothing.

Toril is Better at Finding Excuses Than Winning Titles

Toril doesn't know what self-criticism is and any triviality is enough for him to justify his debacles against Barça and his zero titles won.

Today's match couldn't be an exception: "It was a convincing victory, but within that conviction there are interpretations. Until the 32nd minute, it was even, playing on equal terms. The 3-0 at halftime was very exaggerated based on what was seen on the field."

"We went into halftime understanding it was a tough moment. Positive things within the defeat that are important for our future, it's a defeat but there are good things."

Florentino Pérez can't find a single "good thing" in a 5-0 defeat against Barça in a final. And Toril is playing with fire. There are already too many defeats, and his excuses are increasingly losing weight.

Olga Carmona and Athenea Del Castillo, Singled out

And he is even more singled out for congratulating his players after a heavy defeat. And for insisting that Real Madrid is advancing. Advancing to where?

Alberto Toril's credit is running out. But not only his, also that of the flagship players who have been the image of the losing Real Madrid in recent years.

These are the two internationals, Olga Carmona and Athenea Del Castillo. Their leadership has led Real Madrid to humiliating results against Barça.

Olga Carmona's performance today, against Graham Hansen, was simply pitiful. The Norwegian did whatever she wanted with her, as if she were a broken doll. Real Madrid needs a different kind of players.

"Why Haven't We Signed Ewa Pajor?"

Apparently, someone close to Florentino Pérez said this morning: "And why haven't we signed this Pajor?" That's also where Real Madrid's problems come from.

Olga Carmona says that Barça's thrashing and the 5-0 were "due to details," as in the previous 15 clásicos. They don't shoot on goal in 90 minutes, concede five legal goals, are forgiven a penalty against them, and she calls that "details." Could she be referring to 5 details?

"We are going to work to win titles,"  said Olga Carmona.  "We have a great team and great challenges," she added referring to the League, Cup, and Champions League.

Does Olga Carmona already know that Barça is also in all three competitions, the one that always wins them? Or is it now enough for Real Madrid to just dream?

Graham Hansen exposed Olga Carmona, in the second goal and many other plays. Carmona continues living off her two goals in the World Cup, but she doesn't justify, on a daily basis, the theoretical value attributed to her.

Olga Carmona and Athenea Can't be the Leaders of Real Madrid

Real Madrid is considering that perhaps it's wrong to think that  players like Olga Carmona or Athenea Del Castillo are enough to face Barça. It is evident that it doesn't.

Olga Carmona, moreover, has made headlines with her applause for a women's Super Cup in Arabia. Especially after what happened in the stands at the men's Super Cup with the companions of Mallorca's players.

Patri Guijarro had to put her in her place. Microphones aren't her thing either.

Olga Carmona's Indolence

Olga Carmona's indolence in some of Barça's goals is concerning. For example, in Pajor's 2-0, Ona Batlle exposes her: one runs and the other watches.

And in Patri Guijarro's 4-0. Olga Carmona calls that indifference "details."

While Real Madrid's leading players have the level and character of Olga Carmona and Athenea Del Castillo, Barça can be at ease with its insulting hegemony. It's not about talking in press conferences, but about playing better than the opponent.

In this regard, Barça has three leaders on and off the field that are breathtaking. Mapi León, Alexia Putellas, and Aitana Bonmatí. That's where Real Madrid starts to lose.
