Florentino cooks up a top-level swap deal with Liverpool: 'You keep Rodrygo and I...'

Rodrygo's time is running out: the change Real Madrid is preparing

Few saw it coming. But the pieces are starting to fall into place, and the result could be one of those moves that benefit all parties.

Florentino Pérez makes a move. Xabi Alonso, quietly, gives his blessing.

In Valdebebas, they know not all superstars can coexist. With Mbappé's arrival, Bellingham's step forward, and the consolidation of the controversial Vinicius, Rodrygo Goes's spot seems to have no place.

An imbalance in attack... and in defense

Rodrygo has been important, yes. But his contribution is decreasing, and his fit in Xabi Alonso's new system is more than questionable.

Meanwhile, there's an area where Real Madrid is starting to have shortcomings: the center of defense.

With Alaba injured, the uncertainty of Militão Rüdiger, and doubts about Asencio, the team needs muscle, authority, and experience. There's a name that's always been liked: Ibrahima Konaté.

Xabi Alonso's dream

Xabi Alonso has asked for him. Literally. It's not a whim or just another name.

He wants him as the cornerstone of his backline. If he can pair him with Huijsen, the Basque coach sees it as a perfect combination. One with power and experience at the top level, the other with youth and ball-playing ability.

Konaté isn't living his best moment at Liverpool. He's not undisputed, and his progress has stalled. At 25, he needs a change.

Madrid knows it. What's being considered now is a pure swap: Rodrygo for Konaté.

"You keep Rodrygo and I..."

Talks are happening. In the Chamartín offices, it's assumed Rodrygo needs a new setting to shine again.

Liverpool could be perfect: offensive style, prominence, and a new cycle after Klopp's departure.

From England, the deal sounds logical. Jürgen Klopp was a fan of Konaté, but his successor isn't as much. Rodrygo, with his directness, would fit like a glove in the new red attack.

That's why the phrase circulating in the Bernabéu's hallways sums up the move well:

"You keep Rodrygo and I bring in Konaté." Everyone's happy.

Perfect deal and no cash

There wouldn't be any money involved. Just a straight swap. Two players with similar value in the market.

Two clubs with different needs. A coach, Xabi Alonso, who approves the move without hesitation.

Real Madrid could strengthen its backline with a proven French international. Liverpool would find a top-level attacking spark.

The deal isn't closed. But the ground is prepared. If everything goes as planned, it could be made official before the start of LaLiga.

Rodrygo and Konaté, two paths that cross.
