Fabrizio Romano Reports — Bye to Real Madrid and Heading to City: Ancelotti Lost Them

Ancelotti has already said goodbye to both: They will reinforce Manchester City's defense

Carlo Ancelotti has already said goodbye to them. They're going to Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano, an expert in signings and transfers.

Carlo Ancelotti was counting on them. They weren't priorities, but they were very interesting. Especially if, as is going to happen, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies delay their arrival until next summer.

Ancelotti Was Counting on Them by January

One of them, or both, could've been the emergency solution to keep the white defense afloat until the end of the season.

However, Fabrizio Romano confirms that both have already stopped orbiting around Real Madrid to head toward Manchester City.

Both players were prominently featured on Real Madrid's list of preferences, but you can't compete against Manchester City. When it comes to putting money on the table, state-backed clubs are invincible.

Ancelotti was looking in the market for two replacements for Carvajal and Militão who could offer immediate performance starting in January. However, he'll have to settle for waiting in summer for the arrival of Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies.

The Three Stars City is Taking

Ancelotti already had a major disappointment when last summer he lost Leny Yoro, the 18-year-old French center-back everyone liked. Yoro ultimately preferred the pounds from Manchester United.

At the start of the season, the Italian coach could only pray that there wouldn't be injuries in key areas of the team. Carvajal and Militão, however, fell with long-term injuries. The coach has been managing with Lucas Vázquez and Tchouaméni and improvising teams that at times haven't resembled Real Madrid.

City, more desperate and with more urgencies than Real Madrid, has just acquired the center-back Khusanov by paying 50 million to Lens. They've also paid 70 million to Eintracht Frankfurt for the Egyptian forward Marmoush.

However, City's festival doesn't end here. Fabrizio Romano reveals that the third transfer in the winter market is about to happen for City. It's the trendy Brazilian center-back from Palmeiras Vitor Reis, 19 years old, who has already passed a medical examination.

There Won't be Transfers in January. It's Time to Wait until June

Both Khusanov and Reis were part of Real Madrid's hidden list for this winter market. The names of both, however, had started to be heard in the white environment.

It doesn't seem that, after the disappointment of losing these two players, Real Madrid will react with new targets. The club trusts in Alaba's return and decisively bets on Asencio in the center-back position. Although Ancelotti isn't entirely convinced.

This is how Real Madrid will reach the end of the season. Then, in July, Alexander-Arnold and Davies will arrive, and the team will recover Militão and Carvajal.

Then Ancelotti's luck will change. He'll have plenty of stars to play with in the back.
