Surprise, Eduardo Inda announces Real Madrid's latest signing: 'It was unexpected'

Real Madrid is delighted with the surprise return of a footballer no one expected: Xabi Alonso gets him back

Xabi Alonso has arrived at Real Madrid with the intention of changing things, especially after a tough season without major titles. So far, there have been many moves and, although the new coach has asked for more, Florentino has stood firm. This is what there is and he will have to make do with it throughout the season, as the latest publication from "OKDiario," the outlet directed by Eduardo Inda, has shown.

Surprise signing

"David Alaba, the unexpected signing for Xabi Alonso," is the headline in one of their latest articles. They highlight that the Austrian center-back is already training without a bandage on his left knee and there is some excitement among part of the Basque's staff. Even though Real Madrid offered him the chance to leave by terminating his contract, Alaba is clear that he will stay until his contract expires in 2026.

What David Alaba believes is that he can once again show a high level at Real Madrid, as he did years ago. He hasn't thrown in the towel, to the point that there could be a radical change with him.

Right now  he has regained good physical condition, but Xabi Alonso's staff believe he needs a change of position. The Austrian is being used as a midfielder, the position he played at Bayern under Guardiola. They like his good ball distribution and his defense at the back, and he is capable of forming a trio of center-backs in the 3-5-2 scheme in defensive duties.

Saudi Arabia, watching closely

In recent days, Saudi Arabia has intensified its interest in David Alaba to try to take him from Madrid. He has been liked there for some time and has received an offer to leave immediately.

However, he is clear that  he wants to fulfill the remainder of his contract at Real Madrid. In a year, it will end and the decision, as of today, is not to renew him. He has recovered from the injury he suffered while preparing for the World Cup and considers himself capable of turning his situation around and convincing Xabi Alonso.

David Alaba's situation is not an easy one. With a contract until 2026 and a lesser role, he has one of the highest salaries on the squad. In any case, he is very clear: he is going to stay to try to turn his situation around and convince Xabi Alonso to keep him.
