Confirmed: There will be a signing: Florentino activates plan B with two alternatives to Rodri

Real Madrid will try for Rodri, but if he doesn't arrive this summer, it will pursue the signing of another midfielder

With Toni Kroos's departure still recent, those in the offices at Santiago Bernabéu know they can't afford another year without titles. Florentino Pérez learned the lesson after what happened with Carlo Ancelotti, who had to get through a season without a natural replacement for the German.

This time there won't be any room for improvisation. The midfield needs one more piece. Not just any piece.

Real Madrid is working with a very specific profile, with experience, leadership, and the ability to make a difference from the very first minute. The shortlist is down to three names, although one stands out above the rest.

Rodri, Florentino Pérez's obsession

The Manchester City footballer remains the main target. Considered by many to be the best holding midfielder in the world, Rodri is Florentino's personal bet to complete a dream squad. His fit would be immediate and his arrival would be a statement in Europe.

But there's a problem. Pep Guardiola doesn't want to let him leave and the English club refers to a release clause that exceeds €120 million. Such a costly and complex operation.

Despite the attempts, Real Madrid already assumes that the signing is very difficult this summer. They're considering waiting until the end of his contract so he can arrive as a free agent.

That doesn't mean they've given up. Rodri remains the first option. If there's no agreement in the coming weeks, the club already has an alternative plan on the table.

Enzo Fernández and Mac Allister, in reserve

The technical department, in coordination with Xabi Alonso, has selected two names as a direct alternative to the City player.

Both are Argentine. Both have experience in the Premier League. Both fit the profile sought by the club.

On one hand is Enzo Fernández, a Chelsea player. His first season in London has been inconsistent, but no one doubts his quality.

His signing wouldn't be cheap, although it would be more accessible than Rodri's. His youth also works in his favor.

The other option is Alexis Mac Allister. Currently at Liverpool, his performance has been remarkable since he left Brighton.

He has vision, physical presence, and the ability to arrive from the second line. In addition, his price would be around €60 million. A market opportunity if the English club opens the door.

Florentino wants to close the signing as soon as possible

Real Madrid doesn't want to wait until the last minute. Preseason is just around the corner and Xabi Alonso needs to have all his players available as soon as possible.

The midfield will be key this season. There won't be any improvisation.

Rodri remains the dream. If it can't happen, Enzo or Mac Allister could become reality. Madrid doesn't want to fall short again.
