It often happens at El Chiringuito: When a vacancy appears on any seat, the name of regular Guti appears to fill it.
It's a way of putting him in the spotlight, because Guti feels like a soccer coach. He behaves as an analyst and commentator because he doesn't have a bench to sit on.
Guti has been waiting impatiently for months for an offer to coach after his time at Almería, which wasn't exactly successful.
Raúl is Sentenced in Castilla
Josep Pedrerol is trying to help him as much as he can. Recently, a vacancy arose at San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina. At that moment, El Chiringuito opted for Guti as a replacement.
He's also been proposed to coach Valencia and other Spanish teams. However, the idea didn't come to fruition despite the efforts of El Chiringuito.
Villarreal, Union Berlin and Schalke 04 have recently shown interest in Raúl, who could be packing his bags soon. Castilla's situation doesn't invite optimism.
Castilla is in the relegation zone, with 13 points from 14 games.
Last night Eduardo Inda confirmed an open secret on El Chiringuito: Raúl González is sentenced as Castilla coach.
"Raúl González Blanco has a contract until June 30, 2025. Real Madrid has decided not to renew his contract as Castilla coach. The alternative that Real Madrid has is to offer him to stay in the advisory group or leave."
He added: "I think he will leave and try his luck at coaching. If he stays, it would be within the scheduling of Real Madrid as an advisor, an ambassador..."
Raúl is a legend in the history of Real Madrid and the club doesn't want to let him go. They hope that he will decide to leave by himself. That's what they are working at now at Real Madrid.
Guti Doesn't Want to Return to Coach Castilla
Guti, however, is not receptive to the campaign that El Chiringuito is willing to carry out to place him back at Real Madrid.
"I'd say no to Castilla, that phase is over for me. Coaching at Real Madrid right now? It's over, that's reality."
He insisted: "I wouldn't take up Castilla right now. For me now it wouldn't be a challenge. Going back to the reserve team wouldn't be a challenge for me."
"I had the opportunity to be at Castilla and I left. If I had stayed in the Under-19s for another year, which was the moment when Santi Solari was going to be promoted to the first team..." Guti explained.
Pedrerol tried to make him reconsider, but Guti insisted on refusing outright:
"I've already lived through that phase[of training]and it was an impressive. But for me, Castilla is about training."
"The challenge is not to get to Second Division, the challenge is to train players so that they can be in the First Division or in the first team. And I've already been through that phase. I'm not going to go back to training."
