A Breathalyzer Test Keeps Him Away from Real Madrid: Fran García Applauds Heartily

A setback for Florentino Pérez, who had everything agreed with him but no he is closer to Bayern than Real Madrid

A setback for Real Madrid. Florentino had him in his hands but the latest reports claim that he didn't have him completely secured. Today he is closer to Bayern than Real Madrid.

Real Madrid is waiting until January 1 to officially negotiate with Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bayern's Alphonso Davies.

No to Barça and Manchester United

Both of them have contracts that expire on June 30 and both would arrive at Bernabéu for free. There is an agreement with both of them but both can quit, especially the Canadian from Bayern.

In the last few hours, Bayern has been talking to the Canadian full-back's agent and an agreement seems close. The Bavarian club has improved its offer and the new terms seem to be to the player's liking.

FC Barcelona and Manchester United have also shown interest in him. However, the player hasn't considered either of the two options: Either he remains at Bayern or he goes to Real Madrid.

The Agreement with Bayern is Close

Sport1 has reported that, in the last few hours there has been progress in the negotiations between the club and his agent, Nick Huoseh. Actually, right now Davies is closer to renewing than signing for Real Madrid.

Florentino Pérez was looking for Davies to be a repeat of the zero-cost transfers of David Alaba, Rüdiger and Mbappé.

According to the same source, the player's change of attitude could be due to an act of gratitude toward Bayern. Davies is said to be grateful to Bayern for their reaction to a recent problem he's had with the law.

Davies was sanctioned for driving under the influence of alcohol. Far from punishing him, his coach  Vincent Kompany made him a starter for the next game.

0.6 in the Test

Davies was caught in a police check last Friday. When he took the breathalyzer test, he gave a rate of 0.6 grams per liter of exhaled air. That is above the 0.5 that is tolerated by law. There was also the aggravating factor that this situation happened 24 minutes before playing the German classic against Borussia Dortmund.

Davies asked for a transfer bonus of 15 million, the same as he had agreed with Florentino Pérez. A salary of 10 million net per season, also accepted by the president of Real Madrid.

Bayern has managed to get him to lower his demands on both counts and the agreement is close to being signed. Bayern wants to have the issue solved before the Christmas holidays.

Such news, will obviously be well received by Fran García and Mendy, who would be the two mainly affected by Davies's arrival.
