Real Madrid have ended the speculation about the future of Raúl Asencio. The club has renewed his contract, signing him for this season and four more.
There is no debate. The imminent signing of Dean Huijsen doesn't question the club's valuation of their homegrown player. Asencio will be Real Madrid's central defender for the coming years, with or without Huijsen by his side.
It is true that Carlo Ancelotti struggled to accept the Canary Islands native. Many injuries were necessary for him to consider him as a key piece of his team. But his performance has been indisputable.
Ancelotti has also been won over by his quality as a central defender. Now Florentino Pérez has made a move, as announced by the newspaper Marca, signing a new contract that includes this season and four more.
From 300,000 Euros to 30 Million in Seven Months
This season he will finish with a homegrown player's salary: one million euros. But next season he will already earn 6.2 million, a figure that will increase until he earns 9 million in his fifth season.
Real Madrid also raises the value of his release clause, which goes from 50M to 100M. This way, the club rewards the effort of their homegrown player, who should serve as an example for the rest of the players from La Fábrica.
The salary increase is related to the progression of his game. He started the season at Castilla with a Transfermarkt valuation of 300,000 euros. In December his valuation was 7 million and now it is 30M.
Asencio also fulfills his dream: "my dream is to renew with Madrid and be here for many years."
He Will Earn More Than His New Friend Cubarsí
Asencio, 22 years old, will earn almost double that of his new friend Pau Cubarsí (18 years old) at Barça. Cubarsí has also recently renewed his contract with his club.
Cubarsí has a salary of 3.5 million euros that, as in the case of Asencio, will increase over the years. His release clause is 1 billion.
The economic possibilities of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona have been reflected in the renewals of their two future homegrown central defenders.
