Alexander-Arnold, now better known as Trent in his new phase at Real Madrid, has been introduced as the newest Madridist. He did so surprising everyone, speaking perfect Spanish and moving very well in the press room. When asked about different topics, the Englishman was clear and direct, stating that he only considered leaving Liverpool to play at Santiago Bernabéu. This message hasn't gone over well in Barcelona, bringing back some statements from his past.
Alexander-Arnold's confession in 2021
A few years ago, more specifically in 2020, Trent surprised in an interview with "GQ Great Britain". When asked about his other favorite club besides Liverpool, he said: "As a kid I was a Celtic fan... But now because of the connection with Gerrard I'm neutral there. I'd say my other favorite team is Barça. I feel like they have the same values and beliefs as Liverpool."
These words from the past are completely different from what he has said now as a new Real Madrid player. When questioned at the press conference, Alexander-Arnold was clear: "If I left Liverpool, it would be to go to Real Madrid. That was the only option for me. I had to make the decision whether to leave or stay, and that hasn't been easy. I'd been there for so long... But, at a certain point you have to make a decision and for me I've made the right decision and I'm very excited."

Beckham, a key figure
Alexander-Arnold has been key at all times, also saying: "If I'm honest it's not something you can even dream of, because it's beyond reality for many players. When I was younger, at 10 or 11 years old, I didn't think I could get here today. I was focused on learning and playing soccer the best way possible. It's a very special moment and I'm very happy."
Finally, he praised the figure of a compatriot with a past at the Merengue team: "I remember that David Beckham played and that was something huge. I also remember Cristiano Ronaldo and the way he was welcomed at the club, which was something different from what had been seen before... Real Madrid demands success and that's something consistent and I have memories of Real Madrid like that."
Even though it's not well received in Barcelona, Alexander-Arnold has always been clear about it. If he left his beloved Liverpool, it was to play at Real Madrid.
