Getting a job at Walmart is an option that attracts thousands of people in the United States. The supermarket chain is known for offering vacancies with accessible requirements, making it a popular option, especially among immigrants. However, the application process is not as simple as it seems, and there are certain details that can increase the chances of being hired.
Ángeles Barrios, a young Venezuelan and influencer on TikTok, decided to share her experience. With more than 24,000 followers on her account @angeles.barrioss, Barrios explained how she managed to get a job at Walmart after several failed attempts. In a video, she detailed the tips that helped her overcome obstacles during her application process.

The Walmart worker unveiled its reality
Although it is not necessary to know English to be hired at Walmart, Barrios revealed some secrets that make a difference. In her case, applying to only one store and putting few available days was a mistake. "The key is to put all the available days, even if it's not like that in all," Barrios explained.
Another piece of advice Barrios gave was to apply for at least four vacancies, instead of applying for just one. "Read the descriptions and apply to several positions that fit what you can do," she suggested. She ensured that this approach increases the chances of being selected.
After submitting her application, Barrios explained that the next step is to wait for a response. "You will receive a message, check the link every day to see the status of your application," she commented. She also warned that if there are pending steps, they will appear in gray on the tracking link.
The Walmart worker recounted that after applying on December 3, she received a message on December 11 for her interview. The initial interview was simple, with questions about availability, education, and work experience. "The questions were very simple: why do you want to work at Walmart? What are you studying?" she recalled.
After the phone interview, she was asked to attend an in-person interview the next day. During this interview, she was again asked about her availability and was shown the area where she would work. After a few days, on December 22, Barrios attended the orientation, presented her Social Security, and completed tax forms.
In that session, she was also given her uniform and asked for other identification documents. Finally, she was ready to start working at Walmart. The company offers a variety of vacancies, including positions in customer service, product restocking, cashiers, and online order preparation.
Walmart's wages vary depending on the position, and some roles can pay up to $27 per hour. Additionally, the company offers benefits such as medical insurance, employee discounts, and funded educational programs.
