Ford is in the middle of one of its largest vehicle recalls in years, with more than 355,000 trucks and pickups involved. The reason: issues with the digital dashboard display. Although this isn't a failure that causes direct accidents, NHTSA decided to act to prevent risks on the road.
Affected models
The recall mainly affects Ford F-150 2025 models and F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 from 2025 and 2026.
The malfunction is in the dashboard display, which shows essential data such as speed, fuel, or warnings. However, some drivers have reported that the display doesn't turn on when starting the vehicle. This can cause confusion about key information while driving.

Ford has already confirmed that the cause is a software issue. The good news: the solution will be free. Owners will be able to go to the dealership or update the system online.
Another risk: brake leaks in Edge and Lincoln MKX
Ford has also issued a recall for nearly 500,000 vehicles: Ford Edge (2015-2018) and Lincoln MKX (2016-2018).
In these models, the brake system hose can break, causing fluid leaks. This increases the braking distance, which could be dangerous in emergency situations.
For now, Ford states that no accidents or injuries have been reported, but NHTSA considers the risk serious enough to act immediately.
A complicated year for Ford
Since 2024, Ford has issued more than 100 vehicle recalls. Some less notable, others quite serious:
- 213,000 vehicles with issues in the taillights.
- More than 100,000 units at risk of airbag failure.

These problems reflect a reality: modern cars are increasingly technological, but also more vulnerable to failures. Manufacturers must stay alert to prevent a small error from putting hundreds of thousands of drivers at risk.
What to do if your vehicle is affected
Ford will notify affected owners, but it's not necessary to wait for the letter. You can check if your vehicle is included by using the vehicle identification number (VIN) on Ford's official website or in NHTSA's database.
If your vehicle requires repair, it will be completely free. Whether it's a software update or a part replacement, you shouldn't pay anything. Ignoring the notice can cause safety issues and complications in future inspections.
