Wojciech Szczęsny Gives a Hint About His Future: He's Satisfied with Flick's Decision

The Polish goalkeeper already knows that at the end of the season he will retire... for real

Wojciech Szczęsny, the successful Polish goalkeeper for Barça, has given a hint today in Dortmund about his future. He has reached an agreement with Flick and at the end of the season will leave the way clear for Ter Stegen.

There were doubts about Hansi Flick's preference for Ter Stegen, whom he had under his command in the German national team. The German goalkeeper is about to receive medical clearance, and the question arises: if Barça registers Ter Stegen, they have to deregister Wojciech Szczęsny.

As we have already reported in MB, Hansi Flick has spoken with both. The Pole can be calm because he will be able to finish the season as a starter and aim for the treble. The German is happy because his friend Szczęsny will retire again at the end of the season.

The goal will be for Ter Stegen, but first Wojciech Szczęsny will live his moments of glory in LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League.

"I Want to Play This Competition"

-"I'm here to replace Ter Stegen, but I want to play this competition and, whatever happens, I will respect the decision. We have a good relationship".

"The renewal? It's not something I think about too much. My contract is until the end of the season, and I'm going to focus on the matches. I won't waste energy on future matters or contract negotiations".

"I've played more matches against them, but we are all now in the same situation. We want to manage the pressure of the match in the best possible way. We've played against a very tough team and tomorrow as well".

"The young players show more enthusiasm, with more energy. With age, one tries to stay calm.  My Spanish isn't good enough to help my teammates, but I try with my attitude".

"What I Like Most About Barça Is Winning"

"What I like about Barça is the fact of winning. A few months ago, I was on the beach and didn't want to play soccer, and now I'm in one of the best teams in Europe. When you win matches, you feel unbelievable, winning is what I like the most".

"I want to win big trophies. I'm getting closer to winning this competition. I'm going to take the opportunity and focus on these last weeks of the season to achieve something for us and for the club".

"The day Barça contacted me, I was playing golf with my son. Before that moment, I had already received some signal. There won't be many players who have been called while with their son in such a situation".

"Meditation helps me in my day-to-day life.  I recommend it to all professionals. It gives you a different perspective, and you can greatly improve skills, and if you know how to manage pressure, it's very good".

"Lewandowski Helped Me a Lot in the Early Days"

"Marc has been playing at a very high level for a long time and has won a Champions League. He has a very high level, and making a comparison between us makes no sense. When he's recovered, there won't be many goalkeepers who can compete with his level".

"Lewandowski helped me a lot in the first weeks to establish a relationship with the players. I tried to help Iñaki and showed myself naturally.  I'm a positive person, if they like how I am, great; and if not, that's fine too".

"The first call I received was from Lewandowski. During the first weeks, he helped me a lot to adapt to Barcelona. It's a difficult transition, and the hardest part was changing the mindset of having left soccer and coming back".

"When Ter Stegen is available, the decision is the coach's and not ours. We understand the situation very well, it's not uncomfortable, and there's no tension. Whatever happens, we will understand and respect it because we both want the best for the team".
