Vinícius Challenges the World and Misses a Golden Opportunity to Redeem Himself

Thre's no consensus over Vinícius's The Best. Neither the coaches nor the media declared him the winner.

FIFA showed a gesture to Florentino Pérez and guaranteed the The Best award for Vinícius after the disappointment of the Ballon d'Or.

Vinícius Doesn't Generate Unanimous Support

Even playing at home, with the wind at his back, Vinícius found out he doesn't garner unanimous support. The public voted for him (there are techniques to achieve massive votes) and the captains did too. However, the coaches and the media didn't vote for him.

In other words, his status as The Best doesn't garner absolute recognition as it did in previous cases.

It's not that the world doubts Vinícius is the best soccer player on the planet. What detracts from his merits is his inappropriate behavior that's widespread in every match he plays.

Last night, he had a golden opportunity to redeem himself, to make peace with the world and win everyone over. He could've turned over a new leaf, but he didn't.

He boasted about being the best in the world, something we're not used to with previous winners. Then he issued a threat that must've opened a deep wound in his president's heart.

Vinícius Has No Intention of Amending His Ways

"No one is going to tell me how I should behave," he said on his social media. In other words, he makes it clear that he won't accept advice from anyone telling him he shouldn't send anyone to Second Division. He won't hear anything about not disrespecting referees or provoking opponents and rival fans.

Vinícius has no intention of amending his ways. It will be difficult for him to win The Best again or aspire to the Ballon d'Or.

He expressed his feelings on Instagram: "Today I write to the child who has seen so many idols lift that trophy. His time has come. Or rather, my time has come."

"The moment to say... yes, I am the best player in the world and I've fought hard for it. They've tried to invalidate me, diminish me, but they're not ready.

"No one is going to tell me who I should fight for, how I should behave. When I was in São Gonçalo, the system didn't care about me. They almost swallowed me up."

"I won for myself, for my family. With a lot of support along the way: Flamengo, Real Madrid, the Brazilian national team, my hundreds of teammates over the years. The people who join me every day in my routine, those who admire me..."

He Announced a Battle against the World That Doesn't Approve of Him

He can't sell himself as an example for children if he boasts about being the best player in the world because he received an award. Nor can someone who believes that the world is against him and his duty is to fight it.

Vinícius makes it clear he won The Best for himself. Also for others, but mostly for himself.  He only feels recognition for those who admire him.

The Real Madrid star has lost a historic opportunity to change. He hasn't matured and announces a battle against the world that doesn't approve of him. However, that world is there and won't disappear.

He doesn't learn the lesson and no one tells him that if he's not more than he is, it's because he's disliked. He earns it with that behavior that has nothing to do with sportsmanship, and this is all about sports.
