Ronald Araújo's continuity at FC Barcelona remains in serious doubt. Although he has a contract until 2031 and his special clause of only €60 million has already expired, it's not guaranteed that he'll wear the blaugrana jersey next season. The Uruguayan is still attracting interest from several teams in Europe and, in fact, one of them could make an unexpected move because of Real Madrid.
Florentino is looking for a center-back to strengthen its defensive line this coming season. Xabi Alonso isn't happy with what he has, and he has pointed directly to Ibrahima Konaté, from Liverpool. His contract at Anfield ends in 2026 and they don't want him to leave for free in a year, having declined all proposals to renew so far. Konaté wants to play for Real Madrid, which would open the door for Ronald Araújo to leave Barça.
Liverpool go after Ronald Araújo
The most serious interest in the Uruguayan defender comes from England. Liverpool have started initial moves to explore his signing, aware that he could fit into Arne Slot's system. At Anfield, they're already making moves in case Konaté leaves, and their priority is none other than Araújo, believing he has the perfect qualities to play in the Premier League.

It won't be a simple operation since his €60 million clause has already disappeared. Even so, Barça aren't ruling out a departure if the offer is good. It would have to exceed that amount, as they're looking to get a good sum of money for one of its captains.
Future in doubt
He has Hansi Flick's full trust, but the reality is that a sale of this magnitude would be welcomed in Barcelona. He hasn't managed to reach the desired level over the past few seasons, and only an injury to Íñigo Martínez canceled his departure a few months ago.

Ronald Araújo would welcome the possibility of heading to Liverpool, but now everything depends on Barça. The clause has returned to the usual €1 billion, so a transfer negotiation will be necessary.
Right now, the reality is that an agreement between Barça and Liverpool seems complicated. Everything would only be set in motion if Ibrahima Konaté ends up going to Real Madrid and, for now, nothing is really advanced. What is clear is that Ronald Araújo doesn't plan to force his exit, believing he's at an ideal moment to regain his form and become a starter again. It won't be easy for him, though...
