Hansi Flick wants to make sure that every euro FC Barcelona invests in signings has an immediate impact on the team's performance. After Nico Williams's definitive refusal, the German coach has asked the club to stop any moves for Marcus Rashford or Luis Díaz... at least for now.
The reason has a name: Roony Bardghji. The young Swedish winger, just 19 years old, has already passed his medical with Barça. He has been signed from FC Copenhagen for €2 million plus add-ons.
But he isn't coming to be loaned out immediately, as was initially thought. Flick wants to see him with his own eyes, on the field, in the group dynamic. He will then decide whether the club should go for a more expensive signing or not.
He has something different: dribbling, speed, and boldness
Bardghji is one of those gems that don't go unnoticed. His breakthrough came in the group stage of the 2023-24 Champions League, when he scored a decisive screamer against Manchester United.
Since that day, Barça has been following him. He is a pure winger, one of those who are almost extinct: fast, technical, skillful in one-on-one situations, and with a natural ability to beat his man.
In the videos Flick has watched, the boy has shown details that have excited the coaching staff. If he keeps that level, the plan is clear: Roony will be the first team's third winger, alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
His performance could prevent unnecessary spending on much more expensive players: Rashford (loan with a purchase option of €38 million) or Luis Díaz (€90 million, now wanted by Bayern).
Mallorca waits... but Flick doesn't want to rush
RCD Mallorca has already informed Barça of its willingness to take the Swede on loan this season. However, Flick wants to make that decision personally and not based on outside reports.
He has already made it clear that his priority isn't to sign for the sake of signing, but to build a solid and well-worked team from the locker room.
Everything will depend on Bardghji's performance in the first few weeks. If he meets expectations, Barça won't go to the market for another winger.
If he doesn't convince, he will be loaned out and the club will activate one of the two names on its list: Rashford or Luis Díaz. For now, Flick is betting on young talent.
