Coexistence within the Spanish national team has always sparked debates between Madridists and Culers. However, there are cases where rivalries are set aside and camaraderie takes precedence.
That's what has happened with Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal. Two players who represent the eternal Real Madrid–Barcelona rivalry, but who've shown they have a special connection in La Roja's locker room.
The right back from Real Madrid gave an interview to Cadena Ser. There, he spoke about various matters related to the national team. He didn't hesitate to enthusiastically praise the young Culer star.
Carvajal, who serves as captain for Spain, has sent a message of calm and recognition to a footballer who, at just 18, is already a reference point at FC Barcelona.

The captain of all, also of the Culers
Carvajal has earned respect in the national team not only for his performance on the field, but also for his leadership.
His words about Lamine Yamal make it clear: "From the moment I arrived, I've always seen him the same way. He hasn't changed from when we were together last year, people need to understand that it's complicated," he stated.
The right back recalled that Lamine, despite his youth, already bears the weight of being a starter at a club the size of Barça.
"He's a boy who's 18. He's already a reference at a club like FC Barcelona, which is one of the best in the world. He's making a difference, he's signed an important contract, his impact has increased a lot, and well, in the end it's not easy to manage," he added.
Carvajal, protector of the Culer gem
The Madridist showed empathy for the difficulties Lamine faces due to media and sporting pressure. "He'll make mistakes, like we all have. If you perform on the field, give your all, and then have the quality he has, which is undeniable, you can make history."
Carvajal went even further and placed Yamal among the future great names of world soccer:
"He could be among the Ballon d'Or candidates, especially because of his youth. Let's not forget that he's 18, when I was 18 I was at Castilla. It's very difficult to make a difference at that age in professional soccer."
Carvajal closed the Ballon d'Or question with a touch of humor. "Since I'm not going to vote, I'm not giving it to anyone, so I'm off the hook."

A special and mutual relationship
The truth is that the admiration isn't one-sided. Lamine Yamal has already stated that he considers Carvajal the best right back he's seen in action.
In an environment where the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona is usually always present, both have shown that unity and respect prevail in the national team.
Carvajal stands as captain of all, even of the Culer gems. Yamal, with his confidence, has known how to value the role of the one who now leads La Roja.
