The RFEF already has a new president: Galician Rafael Louzán. Last Monday, the assembly of the organization elected him as the successor to Rubiales and Pedro Rocha in the position. The reality is that it hasn't taken long for him to stir up controversy. In statements to Telemadrid, Louzán has expressed his affection for Real Madrid and his admiration for Florentino Pérez.
In words following his election as president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán stated: "I'll try to meet with President Florentino at the finals in Doha, while making myself fully available to him at the same time."
Far from stopping there, Louzán continued. "I've known him for many years and have great admiration for his work ethics, for where he's taken this club. All of us within Madridism are very happy with the management he's done in this great club."
Rafael Louzán concluded: "We are facing the possibility, once again—although it seems easy, which it isn't—that this best ambassador we have in the world, Real Madrid, can become champion. It seems like we're used to it, but despite that, it's very difficult to achieve what this great club achieves".
This is Rafael Louzán: New President of the RFEF and a Fan of Florentino and Madrid
It seems that Florentino Pérez has achieved what he wanted: having someone aligned with him presiding over the RFEF. However, the reality is that the price is very high. We're talking about Rafael Louzán being sentenced to seven years of disqualification from a public position. The Supreme Court could make this final in February.
All this comes from something he did when he was president of the Pontevedra Provincial Council for the PP. He held such a position for twelve years. Rafael Louzán granted a construction company more than 86,000 euros in subsidies for works that were already mostly completed. In 2021, he was sentenced to two years in prison for fraud, a sentence from which he was acquitted in 2022.
It's possible that Rafael Louzán may have to leave his position in the coming months, which would be a severe blow to the RFEF. We're talking about an outdated federation that needs a radical change from within. Its new president is a recognized fan of Real Madrid and Florentino. However, he is also judicially convicted for his public service when he was part of the PP.
