A program on Catalunya Ràdio, the public broadcaster of the Generalitat de Catalunya, reported the news of Marc-André Ter Stegen's separation.
The problem is not that the news is false, but that the program Que No Surti d'Aquí claimed that there had been infidelity. It was even mentioned that Ter Stegen's wife, Daniela Jehle, had left him for her private tutor.
Ter Stegen Ends Rumors with a Statement
An eight-year marriage and two children together (Ben, 6 years old, and Tom, 1) came to an end on March 6. The couple announced the end of their marriage amicably.
In fact, she joined her boyfriend to Barcelona when she was not even 20 years old and was just an Architecture student.
During this time, they formed an exemplary couple, but time eventually broke them, and they decided to end it by mutual agreement. She remains in her home on Avenida Pearson, in Pedralbes, with her children while Ter Stegen is temporarily living in a Barcelona hotel.
Ter Stegen has lashed out at the authors of the news for feeling offended by being linked to a supposed infidelity by Daniela.
This is the statement released by Ter Stegen on social media:
Dear all,
I am shocked and disappointed by the mismanagement and lack of leadership and control at Catalunya Ràdio & Grupo 3Cat, who have spread false news and violated personal rights.
"Liars" and Direct Attack on the Govern de la Generalitat
The journalists Juliana Canet, Roger Carandell, and Marta Montaner are liars who have distributed false news, publicly offending my wife Daniela and severely damaging her reputation.
There has been no infidelity on Daniela's part. There are no third parties involved. This is a fact.
As communicated, Daniela and I have decided to go our separate ways under good circumstances, maintaining communication based on trust.
It is completely unacceptable for public media led by the government to spread this, falsely accusing Daniela and attacking her personally.
The damage is irreparable."
Ter Stegen has positioned himself directly against the public media dependent on the Government of the Generalitat.
Meanwhile, the program's hosts who have angered Ter Stegen, whom he names, have replied to the German goalkeeper by apologizing.
The Response of the Mentioned Journalists
"We have read Ter Stegen's statement. We want to publicly apologize for the pain we have caused him and his family."
"From QNSA we want to make it clear that we do not report news with a journalistic vocation and, in no case, do we represent the news services of Catalunya Ràdio. Our program is entertainment, and our intention is to provide social commentary. We are very sorry, and we will work to ensure that similar incidents do not happen in the future."
