Saudi Arabia Calls Joan Laporta, Exit Operation at Barça: 'They're Coming for...'

Barça is concerned about Saudi Arabia's interest in signing young talents from La Masia

Saudi soccer continues its expansion and now focuses on FC Barcelona's youth academy. After attracting big stars with lucrative contracts, clubs in the Saudi Pro League have changed their strategy. They are no longer just looking for high-profile signings but also young talents who can shine in the future.

Arabia, a magnet for stars

In recent years, Saudi clubs have revolutionized the transfer market. With million-dollar investments, they have managed to attract top-level figures like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, or Neymar.

But they are not satisfied with that. During the last transfer window, they have tempted key players from LaLiga, like Vinícius Júnior or Pedri.

The most powerful teams in Arabia, such as Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli, continue to scour Europe in search of new additions. Now they have set their sights on La Masia, Barça's youth academy.

Unai Hernández, the first piece of the domino

The first move was the departure of Unai Hernández, who left the Barça B team to sign with Al-Ittihad. The transfer was closed for 4.5 million euros, plus half a million in variables. A deal that Barça has viewed favorably, as the midfielder's contract was set to expire in 2025, and he had no intention of renewing.

Behind this operation is Ramon Planes, former sporting director of Barça, who now holds the same position at the Saudi club. His knowledge of Barça's youth soccer could open the door to more signings from La Masia.

More youth players on the Saudi radar

Saudi Arabia will not stop here. Various sources claim that other young talents from Barça are on the agenda of Saudi teams. Barça's young prospects are seen as future stars who can shine in the Arab league.

Although there are no specific names at the moment, Barça fears that the financial offers may be too attractive for some players to refuse the leap. In a difficult economic moment, Barça needs income but risks losing its future stars.

Laporta, facing a dilemma

Laporta and his team must decide between selling to Arabia to ease finances or protecting their young talents. On the other hand, losing players with great potential could weaken the team in the medium and long term.

What is clear is that Arabia's bet on Barça's young talent is real. The next transfer market could bring more surprises.
