Santiago Cañizares Reveals the Champion's Name: 'It's Rare for a Team That...'

'The Normal Thing Is for the Team That Plays Best to Win LaLiga,' Says Cañizares

With ten matches left in the LaLiga championship, the most competitive on the continent, media gurus are starting to give their predictions about the champion.

In the Partidazo de la Cope, Manolo Lama and Santi Cañizares have shared their opinions. Who will be the LaLiga champion?

Lama leaned toward Real Madrid: "the teams at the bottom aren't going to give anything away. The League is going to be exciting".

Manolo Lama Sees Real Madrid as Champion, "Although Barça Plays Better"

He acknowledged that "Barça is the team that plays the best, and no one can doubt that". But he bets on Real Madrid for the "competitive gene that always keeps them there".

Santi Cañizares, a former Real Madrid player and now a soccer analyst, has a different opinion. For him, the champion will be Barça.

He justified it to Manolo Lama: "You're right, Lama. What you're saying isn't an opinion, it has to do with history.

But I believe that the team that plays the best always wins the League. It's very rare for a team that played worse than the second or third to win".

"Barça Is Hungry and Eager". Cañizares Bets on Flick's Team

Cañizares openly bets on a blaugrana-colored title: "Clearly, they're playing very well, they have a magnificent coach, they have players in form, physically they're like planes. They're hungry and eager, they're convinced of their coach's idea".

He added: "They celebrate every victory like those who aren't used to winning. Sometimes teams win several Leagues in a row and it's like, well, 'it's just another day'. That drive and energy that Barça has right now, at all levels, is going to be hard for anyone to surpass".

Cañizares, to stay in good terms with his own, acknowledges that "you should never count Real Madrid out. It's evident that if anyone has doubts, they should look back at history".

This is the sentiment at Cope regarding the identity of the future LaLiga champion. If Cañizares's theory prevails, that the champion is the one who plays the best, there's no room for doubt.
