Real Madrid is the king of penalties during Medina Cantalejo's tenure.

Florentino gets rid of the referees' president: The referees favored Real Madrid... but not enough

Florentino Pérez, who can do it all, has achieved his goal of taking the spotlight off Medina Cantalejo, president of the referees.

This is normal in these cases. Joan Laporta calls it "sociological Madridism." It's nothing more than the confirmation that Real Madrid rules all the power structures located in the capital of Spain.

Florentino has signed the complaints and the harassment of referees by Real Madrid TV

It has cost him many therapy sessions on his Real Madrid TV. A summons from the judge to explain the reason for the harassment and pressure on the referees, trying to influence the results.

He didn't need to sign the biased reports either. The media environment surrounding Real Madrid has more than enough outlets that would volunteer to do that dirty work.

But Florentino has preferred to sign the complaints from Real Madrid TV. He has declined to have Josep Pedrerol be the one in charge of reporting the so-called referee harassment that Real Madrid suffers every week.

Pedrerol would gladly do it, like so many Madrid-based outlets with audiences throughout Spain. Many years ago, they gave up criticizing the established power at Real Madrid.

Florentino ousts the president of the referees who has favored Real Madrid

Curiously, Florentino has achieved what he intended: ousting the president of the referees who supposedly harmed Real Madrid. Most likely because anything short of awarding the Whites three penalty kicks per match is considered harming them.

Ignoring the propaganda from Real Madrid TV and looking at the cold numbers, the conclusions can be embarrassing. Journalist David Bernabéu has shown that if anyone has benefited from Medina Cantalejo, it's... Real Madrid!

David Bernabéu has recalled that Real Madrid is the team with the highest positive penalty balance during the tenure of the much-criticized Medina Cantalejo in the Referees Committee.

Between penalties for and against, Real Madrid finishes Medina Cantalejo's tenure with a +29 (original value: +29).

Betis is second with a +8 (original value: +8), 21 penalties behind Real Madrid. Barça, which is fifth, has a +7 (original value: +7), 22 penalties behind the Whites. The narrative doesn't change: the referees favor Barça and harm Real Madrid.

Real Madrid TV doesn't explain this detail because it breaks the narrative. The truth is that the last season has only served to confirm the eternal trend of referees favoring Real Madrid.

Barça enters the box and scores. But the penalties go to Real Madrid

This past season, Real Madrid were awarded 13 penalties (original value: 13) in their favor and 3 (original value: 3) against in LaLiga. Barça won the title, but Real Madrid was the undisputed king of penalties.

Scoring 102 goals (original value: 102), 24 (original value: 24) more than Real Madrid, its forwards showed that they entered the box the most. However, they were only awarded 7 penalties (original value: 7) in their favor. That's almost half as many as Real Madrid.

They were penalized with one more penalty against than Real Madrid. Those hired by Florentino Pérez to carry out propaganda on his private TV don't talk about that.
