Shakira has thrown one rock after another at Piqué, but he hasn't responded. Today he did so on CNN, taking a clear stance.
It's been two years since Piqué and Shakira wrote this statement: "We regret to confirm that we are splitting up. For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we ask for respect for privacy. Thank you for your understanding."
It was later revealed that the former Barça player was in a parallel relationship with Clara Chía. The relationshp is still current and has allowed Shakira to enlarge her bank account by devoting her songs to him, all out of spite.
Gerard Piqué sobre la Kings League: “Los mejores 'streamers' del mundo y las leyendas del fútbol”
Shakira dedicated three songs to Piqué and said of him: "For the first time I have to deal with many things as a single mother. But my children are my great support. Sometimes it's lucky not to have a husband, because he was dragging me down."
Now Piqué has replied: "I have always been very calm. I know the world we live in. I know that everyone likes to have an opinion and their point of view on things."
"The Truth Hasn't been Told"
He added: "The media controls the message and, generally speaking, each channel says what it wants to sell."
Piqué then added: " The truth about what happens has not been told as it should have. I can't control this, I've always believed that the best thing is to be surrounded by my people, my family, my friends, the people who really know you."
"They know what you are like and what you do, and that gives me a lot of peace of mind," he said. "But I'm happy, I have a great time and I feel privileged," he said.
"The life I've had, being able to play for the club of my life for more than 20 years, wonderful children, an incredible family, lifelong friends..."
"And from there onwards, there's creating things like the Kings League. We'll see what the future holds for me. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying life, because in the end this lasts two days so we have to enjoy it."
Piqué has responded calmly to Shakira's angry accusations.
