Pau Cubarsí Gives Him the Bad News: €30M for Leaving in January; Deco Has a Deal

The young footballer already knows what will happen to his teammate and Deco thinks it's a good decision

FC Barcelona is at a key moment of the season. Between sporting decisions and financial strategies, the sporting management, headed by Deco, is taking measures to readjust the squad.

In this context, Pau Cubarsí has given news that have spread in the corridors of the club: an important player could leave Barça in January.

The Situation of the Footballer at Barça

Andreas Christensen arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2022 with the hope of being a mainstay in the defense of the team. However, so far this season, his presence has been rather invisible due to an injury that has kept him off the field for weeks.

Although his return was expected shortly, it doesn't seem that his recovery will happen in the short term. This setback has opened the door to a possible exit, since the competition in the Barcelona defense is fierce.

With the Pau Cubarsí-Íñigo Martínez duo consolidated and hopes for Araújo's recovery, Christensen's opportunities have diminished. This raises doubts about his future at the club.

The Two Teams Interested

According to El Nacional, Manchester United and PSG are interested in signing the Danish defender. Both teams are looking to strengthen their defense. Christensen fits the profile, so his departure next winter transfer market could be an attractive option for both.

Manchester United needs to improve defense while PSG, always on the lookout for talent, has been keeping a close eye on Christensen. These two clubs, with great financial potential, would be the ideal candidates for Christensen's transfer, provided that the figure that Barça demands is met.

Barça's Position: 30 Million and Farewell

FC Barcelona is not willing to let Christensen go for a low fee. The blaugrana board has decided that if the player has to leave, it will be for 30 million euros.

This figure is no coincidence, as Barça is looking to balance its finances. They want to take advantage of the sale of some players to help clean up the club accounts. In this sense, Deco and the rest of the board are very focused on optimizing the available resources.

it's worth remembering that Christensen was released by Barça at the beginning of the season due to a long-term injury. This measure allowed the club to register Dani Olmo, an important transfer for the campaign. Now, the team has the possibility of making money with the Danish defender. At the same time,  the would be freeing up space in the squad for possible reinforcements.
