Neither Barça nor Valencia, Héctor Fort already has a new team in Germany: 'I'm going to...'

Héctor Fort is seeking new challenges in the Bundesliga while Barça aims to renew its squad with top-level talents

Héctor Fort, the young right-back from FC Barcelona, is close to making a major change in his career. Although he was linked with Spanish clubs like Valencia, everything indicates that his next destination will be the Bundesliga in Germany. This possible transfer reflects both Barça's need to readjust its squad and the player's ambition to find more playing time and grow.

Fort's situation at Barça

Héctor Fort finished the 2024/25 season with very little prominence. With only 638 minutes in 20 matches, his participation was limited. The main reason is the tough competition for the right-back position, especially with Eric García's consolidation.

Coach Hansi Flick has chosen Eric García not only as a center-back but also as a right-back, where he performed at a high level. This has caused Héctor Fort to be left without playing time.

In addition, the coach believes that Fort still needs to improve in certain aspects before becoming a regular starter. This has raised doubts within the club about his immediate future.

Borussia Dortmund's interest

Meanwhile, as Barça evaluates options for Fort, Borussia Dortmund from Germany has set its sights on him. The "Black and Yellows" see in the young player a versatile profile with great potential, and they also value his training and experience at an elite club like Barcelona.

Dortmund would be willing to offer him a place where he can play more regularly and develop. In preliminary negotiations, Fort's camp has already been informed and the idea of making the leap to the Bundesliga is attractive to him. However, the blaugrana club seeks to keep some kind of control, either through a buy-back option or a percentage of future sales.

Preseason and decisions on the horizon

The preseason has been a key moment for Fort. In the second match against FC Seoul, he had the opportunity to play the entire second half.

Although he showed some positive signs, he also made mistakes that cost goals on his side. In the first match against Vissel Kobe, he didn't get any playing time.

With two more matches remaining (against Daegu FC and the Gamper Trophy match against Como), Héctor will have to prove his worth if he wants to stay. But the reality is that the Barcelona board and coaching staff are seriously considering the option of a loan or sale.
