Neither Barça nor Madrid! Fabrizio Romano Reveals Nico Williams’s Team: Surprise

Nico Williams's future is starting to become clearer, with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid ruled out of the equation

At 22 years old, Nico Williams has become one of the most desired players in recent times. Last summer, Barça was very interested and even came close to signing him. This summer, a Marca cover surprised everyone by announcing Real Madrid's serious interest in signing him. Now, Fabrizio Romano has spoken out. On the 'DAZNTransfer' show, he was blunt and didn't hold back with the Spanish international.

Fabrizio Romano announces where Nico Williams will play

Asked about Nico Williams's future, Romano was clear: "We have to keep it open because he has a release clause (€58 million) and there's a lot of interest. Chelsea, Arsenal... He's a priority for all these teams, even Bayern like him a lot. Since last summer, Arteta's been obsessed and wants to sign a very important winger, Chelsea too."

In this regard, he stated: "But what these clubs tell me is: "We don't have a green light from Nico." He's still very comfortable at Athletic Club, Athletic Club still have the idea of trying to sign him to a new contract and keep him."

Despite this, he kept everything open: "The situation is still very calm, it's still early. A team could come in with the money during the transfer window, but for now everything is very calm. Nico Williams is still very comfortable at Athletic Club. With Barça for now there's nothing concrete, I've seen a lot of things and then you never know..."

Nico Williams is the crown jewel of Athletic Club

At just 22 years old, Nico Williams has established himself as one of the great sensations of Spanish soccer. The Athletic Club winger has had a brilliant season, recording 11 goals and 7 assists in 45 matches across all competitions. His speed, dribbling, and ability to break lines make him a difference-maker both for his club and the national team.

Nico stands out not only for his physical power but also for his tactical maturity. He can play on both wings, although his explosiveness makes him especially lethal coming from the left. His understanding with his brother Iñaki and his ability to link up have been key in Athletic's great campaign, capped off with qualification for the Champions League.

For the national team, Luis de la Fuente considers him a pillar for the present and future. Nico is an essential piece in La Roja's attack, forming a great partnership with his friend Lamine Yamal. His development has attracted the interest of major European clubs, but for now, it seems the homegrown red-and-white player remains focused on continuing to grow in Bilbao.

Spain have in Nico Williams an elite winger for many years to come.
