Míchel asks for 2 Barça signings for his Girona: 'Oriol Romeu and...'

Girona's coach is already considering strengthening his squad with two players who could leave Barça this summer

Girona doesn't want to rest on its laurels after its historic season. Míchel, the leader of the project and one of the most highly regarded coaches in LaLiga, has already made a move and has set his sights high. The Madrid-born coach has specifically requested two reinforcements from FC Barcelona from the board.

Romeu, an old acquaintance

The first on the list is someone who already knows Montilivi very well. Oriol Romeu, 33 years old, played on loan at Girona during the 2022/23 season and was one of the key pieces in the midfield. He returned to Barça last summer, but his role has been limited, he has barely had any minutes, and his prominence has faded.

With a contract until 2026, his future at Camp Nou is uncertain. Hansi Flick's arrival doesn't seem to have changed his situation. In Girona, however, he would have minutes, trust, and a fanbase that remembers him fondly.

Romeu wouldn't mind returning either. He knows that at Montilivi he would find stability, a system that suits him, and above all, a locker room that already feels like his own.

Pau Víctor, talent yet to be unleashed

The second name Míchel has put forward is Pau Víctor, a 23-year-old forward who belongs to Barça Atlètic. This past season, he has stood out as one of the most promising strikers in the reserve team. He has a knack for scoring, mobility, and a profile that fits very well with Girona's play style.

The young striker's contract ends in 2029, but at the Catalan club, he doesn't have a place in the first team. His departure this summer seems very likely, and Girona wants to seize the opportunity.

For Pau, it would be an ideal opportunity. Míchel bets on young players, and his offensive system could enhance his talent. Moreover, in Girona, he would get real minutes, something he would hardly achieve by staying in Barcelona.

Realistic operation

Unlike in previous years, Girona is no longer a minor destination. It will play in the Champions League and has shown itself to be a competitive team, with a clear and well-executed idea. That allows it to dream of signings that, in another context, would seem impossible.

Neither Oriol Romeu nor Pau Víctor are big-money signings. But they do represent a logical bet: experience, potential, and knowledge of LaLiga. In addition, the good relationship between both clubs may facilitate negotiations.

Míchel wants to close soon

The coach wants his squad to be shaped as soon as possible. He knows that this year the demands will be even greater, and that there's no time to lose. That's why he has been clear with the sporting management: Romeu and Pau Víctor can make the difference.

Now the ball is in Barça's court. If they don't count on them, Girona is ready to open the door for them... and keep dreaming.
