Laporta Negotiates with Cerezo for Lenglet's Departure and the Arrival of a Bombshell at Barça

The Meeting Between Barça and Atlético de Madrid Executives Has Been Very Intense

Not Only Florentino Pérez Supports Barça in the Dispute with LaLiga Over Dani Olmo. Atlético de Madrid Also Supports Barça in favor of Barça.

Atlético, Like Real Madrid, Supports Barça with Olmo

The President of Real Madrid Personally Called the CSD to Facilitate Dani Olmo's Registration assuring that he wouldn't object. Catalunya Ràdio discovered it. Today, at the directors' lunch, Enrique Cerezo Offered Joan Laporta His Unconditional Support.

"LaLiga is the one that has to speak. Here everything is overstepped, and  I believe that if Dani Olmo is playing, it's because he has to play, there's a ruling that says he can play," stated the Atlético president.

The relations between FC Barcelona and Atlético couldn't be better. The Dani Olmo issue captured the attention of the diners today at the De María restaurant in Madrid. But they didn't only talk about Olmo.

Lenglet's Situation

The situation of Clement Lenglet has been on the table. Barça is asking for 12 million for his rights, Atlético offers 8, and the agreement could be reached at 10 million with 2 more in variables.

Barça has its position well covered with Cubarsí, Íñigo Martínez, Araújo, Eric García, and Christensen. And no one misses his penchant for absurd penalties at Camp Nou, like the recent one he committed with Atlético.

Lenglet lowered his salary to be loaned to Atlético de Madrid. And both he and Laporta hope he doesn't return to Barça next summer.

But the bomb occurred when Joan Laporta Showed Interest in Julián Álvarez, Atlético's new top-tier star.

"But if you can't register Olmo, how do you ask me for a price for Julián?" was Cerezo's response, surprised by Laporta's interest in his star.

Julián Álvarez cost Atlético 75 million euros plus another 20 in variables that will go to Manchester City. Cerezo doesn't have him for sale, and if he were to be put on the market, his price wouldn't drop below 150 million euros.

Griezmann Wasn't for Sale at the Time Either and the Atlético club ended up accepting his departure for 125 million euros.

Laporta doesn't intend to sign Julián Álvarez immediately. But he does want to position himself with a preferential option that offers him an advantage over others should he enter the market in the future.

As of today, Laporta is doing quite a bit to retain his stars. The treasury can't handle more. But things will change significantly in the future with the team's return to Camp Nou.
