In the corridors of Ciutat Esportiva it's beginning to become clear what will happen with some players. Barça is keeping an eye on everything that the transfer market may bring and the latest news has reached the culers' offices. It is now official that Manchester United has a new coach. Rúben Amorim arrives from Portugal and has several targets. Among them, there's a player who, partly, still belongs to the blaugrana squad.
We are talking about Francisco Trincão, a player that Rúben Amorim has had for the last few years at Sporting de Portugal. Now the manager wants to take him to Manchester United. Trincão will soon turn 25 and it seems that the Portuguese championship is too small for him. He's been the favorite of his now former coach, who has thought of him for his next adventure.
Under his command, Francisco Trincão has scored three goals and provided five assists in nine league games this season. Amorim is clear that he's a player he doesn't want to lose track of. He's put his name on the table with the United directors. Sporting is willing to sell, while Laporta also accepts his departure and refuses to bring him back.
Francisco Trincao: Key; 50% Belongs to Barça
Joan Laporta has received the news and remains vigilant. In 2023, Barcelona sold Francisco Trincão for 7 million euros to Sporting de Portugal. In the operation, the Catalonian team reserved 50% of a future sale, trying to get more money from the operation.
Now Barcelona has ruled out the possibility of exercising his buy-back clause. Therefore, Manchester United now has the green light to take him and fulfill Amorim's wishes.
With his contract ending in 2026, Trincão is asking around 20 million euros, of which half would go to Barça. Laporta is rubbing his hands, knowing that he can earn a significant amount of money without having to lift a single finger.
If the deal goes through, Barça would receive around 10 million euros for Francisco Trincão. That's an amount that should be added to the 7 million euros that Sporting paid in 2023 to keep him. Plus, the 3 million they previously paid for his loan.
In total, Barça would get 20 million euros from Sporting for Francisco Trincoã and another 6 million for his previous loan to Wolverhampton.
