Hansi Flick will have to learn to make his line-ups and prepare his games without Lamine Yamal. After the examination he underwent, it's confirmed that Lamine Yamal will be out for about a month.
The medical services of FC Barcelona have issued a medical report. Lamine Yamal will be absent from the line-ups for about three to four weeks.
Lamine Yamal suffered the injury during the first half of the Barça-Leganés match played yesterday in Montjuic. It was a result of one of the many hits Barça players received from Leganés defenders with the referee's consent.
In the images shown on TV, it was clear how the Barça youth player's ankle twisted. But Lamine wanted to keep playing and also appeared on the field in the second half, when the substitution seemed inevitable.
What Lamine Yamal's Injury is
Lamine Yamal took the hit in the 16th minute. Although he initially asked for a substitution, he continued playing until the 75th minute, which seems like a real medical irresponsibility.
"He stayed on the field until he couldn't," admitted Marcus Sorg yesterday, who was replacing the suspended Flick on the bench. At the end of the match against Leganés, he already hinted that "Lamine is not well."
"First team player Lamine Yamal suffered a trauma to his right ankle during yesterday's match against CD Leganés.
"Tests conducted this morning have shown a grade-1 injury to the anterior tibiofibular ligament. The estimated downtime will be between 3 and 4 weeks."
The Matches Lamine Yamal Will Miss
According to the club statement, Flick will face the first trophy of the season, the Spanish Super Cup held in Arabia, without his star.
He won't be available next Saturday against Atlético, nor on January 4th for Barça's debut in the Super Cup in Barbastro against the local team.
Especially important is the Spanish Super Cup event, which takes place at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah (Arabia).
Barça plays the semifinals against Athletic on January 8th. In case of a victory, it would play the finals against Real Madrid if the latter beats Mallorca.
In any case, Flick won't do anything to hasten Lamine Yamal's recovery. He prefers to ensure his participation for the rest of the season, rather than risk it and have him break down against Real Madrid in a rushed comeback.
Yamal is once again suffering an injury to his right ankle, which seems to have become his Achilles's heel.
He already got injured in that area playing in Belgrade against Red Star last November. Back then, some voices claimed that his injury could be more serious than it seemed. The bad omens have been confirmed.
