"Atlético de Madrid's goal, offside. The penalty on Lamine Yamal...
...VAR, broken. The referees, and those in charge, are ruining soccer."
This is Josep Pedrerol's opinion, it's the editorial line of El Chiringuito, it's Real Madrid TV's opinion. It's Florentino Pérez's opinion, the most important of all.
The most sly Pedrerol comes to Florentino's rescue
Real Madrid's president needs a bigger audience than what his own TV channel provides and turns to Pedrerol, always willing, who never fails.
Pedrerol, as sly as ever, takes advantage of a questionable play that could favor Barça, and a goal by Atlético that shouldn't have counted, to go after the referees.
It's curious that when Pedrerol talks about refereeing mistakes, he needs Barça to bring life to the "filthy league" Florentino Pérez defends on his TV channel.
He says the referees are ruining soccer because, as a good follower of Mr. Florentino, he believes that in Vallecas only the referee prevented Barça from leaving defeated.
The mistakes that favor Real Madrid aren't "filthy"
But Pedrerol says little or nothing about the referees when the beneficiary is Real Madrid. It's a historic topic because in LaLiga's penalties, Real Madrid's superiority is clear. He doesn't do it because that's not "filthy."
When Madrid wins a match thanks to a penalty that shouldn't have been given, as happened in the first matchday against Osasuna, Pedrerol doesn't even flinch. In fact, when the beneficiary is Real Madrid, the refereeing topic isn't discussed.
Nor in the second matchday. When Real Madrid takes the lead in Oviedo with a goal that comes after a textbook foul by Tchouaméni. Silenzio stampa.
Referees are only discussed when Barça is involved
Referees are only discussed when it seems Barcelona may have been favored. Then yes, all out.
That's when the complaints come because Real Madrid had a goal disallowed by 0.16 in. (4 mm). Of course, after so many years used to the benefit of the doubt always going to Real Madrid, it's hard to accept now that when there's offside, even if it's by a millimeter, it's called.
They weren't used to these things. That's why they dislike VAR so much, which threatens to take away their preferential treatment and privileges.
