Jonathan Tah Speaks Out and Reveals the Date of His Arrival at Barça: 'Soon...'

The German center-back's contract with Bayer Leverkusen ends on June 30

Jonathan Tah will become a free agent on June 30, but he's been free for a few days now to negotiate his future. He won't renew his contract with Bayer Leverkusen and has attracted interest from several top European clubs, but everything seems to indicate that his future points to Barça. At the moment, the German center-back isn't 100% sure, but he hopes to end the uncertainty soon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Jonathan Tah has been clear about his future. He hasn't made any decision yet: "So far, nothing has been decided. I'm completely focused on succeeding with Leverkusen. I'll make my decision soon.  When I do, I'll share it."

Despite the meetings being very positive, the truth is that Tah still hasn't given his definite "yes, I'm in" to Barça. These statements come at a time when the central defense area is not solved at all. Both Cubarsí and Íñigo Martínez have Hansi Flick's full trust, while Ronald Araújo and Christensen have their futures hanging in the air.

In any case, from Barça, they're clear: Jonathan Tah will end up choosing them. In the coming weeks, he plans to make his final decision, which points to playing at Camp Nou starting June 30.

Jonathan Tah: a Transfer Requested by Hansi Flick for Barça

Hansi Flick has been requesting it since his transfer, and Laporta is going to grant his wish. 2025 has arrived with a practically closed transfer for Barça: that of Jonathan Tah, Leverkusen's center-back. His contract ends on June 30 and the negotiations for his arrival are on track. So much so, that the planning for the next season is being done with the German center-back in mind.

The intention is to finalize Tah's arrival soon, allowing him to sign freely with any team. The German's arrival at FC Barcelona will mean changes in the team, especially in the center of the defense. Hansi Flick has been clear; being able to count on his compatriot, he has requested the departure of two center-backs currently in the team.

Jonathan Tah's profile will open up many options in the team. His arrival should allow the club to part ways with two players who are by no means important to Hansi Flick. We are talking about Christensen and Eric García, whose contracts end in 2026. The plan is to secure a good sum of money with the transfers. It seems both are willing to leave, but they're setting conditions to choose their next team.
