La Liga president Javier Tebas has once again placed FC Barcelona at the center of controversy. During his visit to the Esade campus in Madrid, Tebas referred to Barça's registration of new signings, highlighting Joan García and Nico Williams.
Joan García: An almost official signing, but without guaranteed registration
Barcelona is close to officially announcing the addition of Joan García, the 24-year-old goalkeeper from Espanyol. After paying the release clause and notifying the rival club, the transfer is practically sealed. However, Javier Tebas made it clear that there are still obstacles for the goalkeeper to be registered in LaLiga.
"One thing is to make Joan García's signing official and another very different thing is to register him," said the La Liga president. Although the signing seems imminent, Javier Tebas warned that Barça must make some adjustments to comply with registration regulations. "Barça is not in the 1:1 rule," he stated.

The La Liga president also emphasized that Barcelona must make certain moves to be able to register García in this transfer window, although he did not specify exactly what they are. "Not many, but it has to do things, and they already know what they are. I'm not going to say them, but we're not even in the right dates," Tebas explained, hinting that the solutions will not be simple for the Catalan club.
Nico Williams: A possible, but complicated signing?
The situation with Nico Williams is even more uncertain. The winger from Pamplona has been linked with Barça in recent days, and many claim that the signing is close.
However, Tebas was also clear on this matter: "Does Barça have the money to sign Nico and register him? I don't know." For the La Liga president, the blue-and-claret team still doesn't meet the necessary requirements to sign and register players freely in this market.
Regarding Williams, Tebas pointed out that if Barça wants to sign him, it will have to sell players and adjust its accounts significantly. "If they want Nico, they'll have to sell and adjust their accounts a lot," warned the La Liga president. This way, the Catalan club faces a considerable economic challenge if it wants to bring in the Navarrese forward.
The challenge of registering signings in the 2025/2026 market
With the market opening on July 1, Barcelona must adjust its squad and finances to register new signings. Although the club has shown interest in strengthening its team, economic complications seem to be a constant obstacle.
The question is whether Barcelona will be able to adjust its accounts to meet La Liga's requirements and register its signings. With the accounts still to be balanced and the market just around the corner, Barça's immediate future will depend on its moves in the coming days.
